We stayed in the Heren B & B for 3 days in early June. We had the attic studio on the top floor. The studio is beautifully appointed, nice furnishings, nice bathroom, everything is well done and very clean. There is a queen bed at the back and a single bed and couch toward the front of the room (streetside). The room is very light and airy--totally pleasant. The rates were quite reasonable given the cost of hotels in Amsterdam.
Breakfast is on a lower floor and is very, very nice. Continental breakfast, but all laid out so beautifully that you just don't want to leave the table. There is one single table so you eat family style with other travelers, all who are very nice, easy people.
The studio is at the top of several flights of very narrow stairs. So, this means this B&B is probably not a good choice for those who can't do stairs or can't do without their very large and heavy luggage.
The location can't be beat. You can walk from the train station. We had large suitcases with wheels and just wheeled our luggage all the way there, with no stress.
Vlad is very organized, very accommodating, very sweet, very fun. He and Ken run a nice business and I can only say good things about their property and their work. Running a B&B is hard work and they do a really nice job.
A note about children: Our traveling party only included adults and I did not see any children while we were there. We got the sense that kids were not really welcome. We had some Dutch friends we were visiting with and we didn't exactly get the green light to invite the children up to see what a historic house is like. The children had not been in in an old house like this before and were interested. Its a pity because they are very well behaved kids, but my husband felt that we were not welcome to do so.
