I stayed in a triple room at Bema with my two friends and we all really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a long weekend and would definitely come back and stay at Bema. There is no curfew and you are given a key to your room as well as the outer door so you can come and go as you please. The staff all spoke English and were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served in the room as there is no separate dining area, we had a table and chairs in our room to eat at and it was very pleasant. We had a sink and shower in the room and shared a toilet with the other room on our floor of the hotel, but we never had to queue and it was always clean and well stocked. Continental breakfast was good but it would have been nice to have had a choice so you could have something different every day. Hairdryer in the room and comfy beds.
Bema is in the middle of the museum quarter and is a five minute walk to supermarket, Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum. There is a tram and bus stop outside the hotel and all the taxi drivers know where the Museumplein and concert house is so it's easy to get back to. The centre of Amsterdam where all the nightlife is is about 30 minutes walk (we are three 30 year olds but we walk slow), there are lots of nice restaurants near the hotel but not that many pubs. It was a lovely neighbourhood to stay in and was very quiet and no trouble at night. Ten minute walk to Vondelpark.
The overall decor of the hotel needed sprucing up a bit, there were things like loose plaster and a coat hook coming off the wall; really I don't care about stuff like that but I know some do. It was very reasonably priced for what you get. Would totally recommend it.
