After reading other reviews for Boogaard's Bed and Breakfast, we contacted Peter via his website. There was availability for our party of four. He offered us a first floor (actually one flight up in Europe!) of two bedrooms, each with ensuite bath and a living/dining/kitchen. The price included breakfast, and we found out after arrival, laundry service! His home/b&b is one block off a canal on a very quiet street; yet it was less than a 15-minute walk from the train station.
We slept beautifully each night and had the luxury of a fully-stocked fridge for breakfast each morning. Peter is quite the cook and left us home-baked goodies each day. Once it was Dutch pancakes; other days we found quiche, homemade brownies, bread pudding, etc. All delicious and this was in addition to juice, milk, yogurt, fruit, cereal, coffee, beer and soft drinks!
We toured the city each day, walking to all the major sites, Anne Frank's house is 10 minutes away. The tram was about 10 minutes the opposite direction. Amsterdam, even in late October, was a beautiful city to see, very walkable, and with something interesting around each corner.
Peter is a friendly host who enjoys his guests and treats them like friends. He offered dinner suggestions (Seasons and Thai House, as well as another restaurant--Indonesian, but I can't remember the name!). He gave us the "local" hints about sightseeing.
We had fresh towels and maid service each day. There are other rooms on a higher floor.
Our test about accomodations is always "would we stay here again?" Not only would we stay again, but we feel comfortable wholeheartedly recommending Boogaard's.
