If you are looking to travel to Amsterdam do not stay anywhere else! We stayed in the Pug Room for 3 nights in April. The B and B is well run, Peter and the other staff make you feel very welcome and relaxed. The directions by foot from Centraal Station were exact and even we did not get lost! Safe beautiful street within 5 mins walk of Dam Square etc... At the start of each day you get a gorgeous breakfast which is worth staying here for on its own! You get chance to ask your host any questions how far is this etc... where is best to go for this etc.... just perfect. BEWARE: if you do not like food when you arrive....you will when you leave! The rooms are beautifully furnished and clean. The internet access was fantastic - particularly as we were flying to Terminal 5 Heathrow during the problem period so we could check progress and rest our minds! There is also a small kitchenette so you can make tea, coffee, hot choc, soup and fizzy drinks in the fridge for your use! AND lovely home made cakes each day so you can scoff till your hearts content! Unforntunately my memory card has decided to lose all my pics, but if I can get them I will add them to this post. I can't stress if you are coming to Amsterdam DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT STAYING ANYWHERE ELSE - I am in fact planning to return bringing my husband... for no other reason really other than staying here! Enjoy. And thank you Peter for our stay.

My wife and I arrived at Boogaard's on Easter Sunday, March 2008 (and it was snowing on an Easter for the first time in 40 years). We were excited about the 5 nights we were about to stay with Peter, Thomas, Pepe and Curly. And we absolutely were never disappointed with our entire stay.

Many of the reviews we read prior to booking, and even after booking (in just curiously following the reviews), we saw the same notes on this B&B over and over again. The rooms are great, the breakfast is wonderful, and so much more. I certainly want to reiterate all the positives that you'll read in all the other reviews.

However, I think the best way to truly capture the wonderful experience at Boogaard's is to comment on the little things that Peter does to make sure your stay is as much like home as possible. Being that we had arrived on Easter Sunday, and considering many of the shops and such were closed, Peter made a point of inviting us to join he, Thomas, and their family and friends for "noshes". We even got to meet Peter's Oma and Opa...his wonderfully entertaining grandparents.

The next morning at breakfast, when Peter learned that my wife wasn't really a coffee or tea drinker (she's got a mean Coca-Cola Light habit) Peter made a point of having a couple liter-bottles in our fridge and a cold glass ready for her at breakfast. That little touch showed a nice bit of hospitality and how much he enjoys taking care of his guests.

Peter always had numerous recommendations for restaurants and sights to visit, as well as absolutely entertaining and interesting stories from the times he spent in New York and other places. Be sure to ask!

Whether it was the snacks left for us, the offer to do laundry as necessary, or ability to use their personal computer to print out tickets for an attraction, the hospitality at Boogaard's will make you feel like you're staying with your favorite family member. I can't wait for the opportunity for us to return and stay with them again. I just hoped for our sake they won't be already booked!

My boyfriend and I stayed 3 nights at Boogaard's at the end of March 2008. We arrived under a bit of stress because our luggage was lost by the airline. Peter, the host, made us feel immediately at home and comfortable. We got into the comfy robes provided in our room and relaxed.

Overall, Boogaard's is a great experience and an excellent value. The rooms and bathrooms are spotless, the breakfast is superb, they provide an invaluable concierge service and they generally treat you like you are special. There were drinks and snacks provided daily in our living room area, they did our laundry, Peter mailed a postcard to the US for us, need I go on? You simply won't get this royal treatment anywhere else.

We will most definitely go back to Boogaard's our next trip to the Dam and highly recommend it this place to anyone going there. You will regret staying anywhere else!

We stayed for 3 nights and found a delightful B&B and a wonderful host. The room was perfect for a short stay and the added bonus of free drinks and a superb breakfast make this a must experience if visiting Amsterdam.
Thanks Peter.

I'm going to pretty much restate what others have said, but I wouldn't feel right if I didn't write a review of this wonderful place.

The things that make this place great:

1.) The location: in the Jordaan quarter close to Central Station and many tourist attractions, restaurants and shops. Also a short walk from a tram stop.

2.) The owners: Very accomodating and easy going. Peter gave great restaurant and shopping recommendations. He made us feel very comfortable and welcome.

3.) The breakfast: What a great way to start the day with fresh juice and coffee and a delicious filling breakfast!

4.) The extras: The availability of the lap top with wireless, a little stocked mini-fridge, and laundry service all made this place just a little more extra special and a great great value for the money.

Finally, the place is just adorable - tastefully decorated, comfortable and extremely clean and tidy. You can definitely book this place with confidence! Just do it quick because it's really a small place and I bet he fills up fast in the summer months and on weekends.
