“Great location, lovely hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2010

This hotel is great. On arrival the hotel staff are very welcoming and even though we arrived early- before 10am- they had an available room and so we were able to check in which we hadn't been expecting. We also had the option on the day of check out to have the room for the full day- or they've a storage room for luggage.
The breakfast here is lovely- good selection- pancakes, meats, cheeses, fruits, cereals, eggs, fried breakfast and more. Only complaint is that coffee is from a machine that wasn't always working. They serve breakfast til11 week mornings and til 12 at weekends- great to have this option when you're on holidays.
The rooms are very spacious, modern and clean with plenty of wardrobe space. One small complaint about the rooms is the air conditioning/heating vent. Despite turning it off at night it seemed to make a very slight constant noise- as if on a very low level- which can be annoying when you're trying to sleep. Bathrooms are a good size, with a good shower and always plenty of hot water.
The hotel was quite busy during our stay- seems to be the hotel of choice for KLM cabin crew which is always a good sign. The bar was very quiet though- often we'd stop on our way in at night for a drink and be the only ones. We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on that. Despite being busy- there was never any noise at night or early morning. Rooms seem to be well soundproofed.
The hotel is a 2 min walk from the nearest tram stop- 16 and 24- both go into Dam square and you won't be waiting more than 5 mins at any time. The transport system in this city is amazing (esp compared with Ireland!). If you are coming from central station I would recommend getting the tram to the hotel. Contact the hotel beforehand to find out the name of the exact stop. Taxis are very expensive here. When we arrived we got a taxi the 10 min journey which cost over €20. Trams 16 and 24 both depart from central station.
( On arrival at the airport go to the tourist information where you can buy tram and train tickets for the whole of your stay- for example- it cost €25.00 for a 4 day tram ticket and return train ticket from Schipol to central station).

NH Museum Quarter is a very good hotel and we highly recommend it. we stayed there last August. Truth is we didn't have a clue about it . We decided we needed a romantic vacation (as we didn't have one for a long time) and we simply entered Last Minute Travel web site and picked the cheapest 4 stars hotel. We paid around 100 $ a night for a double room and we were very happy with it. The location was wonderful, facilities were great and we got what we needed- a romantic vacation. Thank you :)

we arrived at the hotel at 11.30 am and was allowed into the room straight away even though checkin wasnt suppose to be til 2pm. we could have upgraded to a canal room for about 15 euros but not much happens on the canal so we didnt. rooms were cleaned very day. room was lovely a spacious with ensuite. had a mini fridge, hairdryer, iron and safe. the fitness room was clean and lots of machines but looked hardly touched. we didnt use the bar or restaurant as a a continental breakfast was 19 euros which we personally think is too much. out and about breakfast is about 9/10 euros. the receptionists were very nice and confident speaking in different languages. we got to the hotel by the connexions bus which we paid for in the airport near the exit. think it was 22.50 euros return or 14 euros single. then we arranged at the receptoion to be picked up the day before we departed. we booked the hotel through sleep and go which saved us money if one of the people in the room was aged between 18 and 30. so we got the room virtually half price each night. its not a 18-30's hotel if you are thinking of the booze etc, it was just an offer they do for people in that age range.
it took us about 15 mins to walk to the red light district and another 5/10 to ann franks house. 2 of the museums were shut. it was easy to find way back if you said/looked for the rikjis museum. would defo stay here again. although the amount of walking was a bit much for my feet.

Very good location - close to the Concert Gebouw from where you can take the tram to Amstelveen area or to the down town area, 10 minutes of walking to the Van Gogh Museum. The receptionists are OK, the breakfast is very tasty (a bit expensive for the diversity you recieve), the room was clean. At the departure I received a voucher of 30 eur...I don't think I will use it but as an incentive is a good marketing tool.

We booked this hotel over the NH-website and got a good price for 2 nights (430Euros). We didnt book breakfast as 19Euros per person for breakfast seems like a lot of money, especially if you only want to have a coffee and something small in the morning. The rooms are a good size and we were on the 5th floor which has a nice view.
The hotel is a bit away from the center but not too far by tram and if you are glad to be away from the noisy and busy center this is a good place to stay. Also it is only about 5mins walk from the VanGogh museum. There are also a few good restaurants not far from the hotel.

Stayed for a week as a birthday treat and to catch a gig at the Melksweg - got a fantastic deal on this hotel with breakfast included which was a great bonus. Excellent location walking distance to the museum quarter where Van Gogh Museum is. Just across from VG is the best museum in the world (probably) Bols Museum (the famous cocktail ingredient) colourful and fun with free cocktails and shots at the end - brilliant at 4pm! Had a canal side view in a quiet location but easy to walk into town - Boom Chicago is worth a visit if you get chance. Hotel was comfortable and a good size room although not much storage. We were moved into the smoking wing after the first night as they'd not been available on our first night despite booking. All fine though but smoking wing only appeared to be accessible by lift - we found this out when we were shut out of the hotel in an attempt to save electricity by using stairs - actually a fire escape! Helpful staff on fag break fortunately snuck us back in. Hotel caters for airline staff which was fine and meant amazing array at breakfast, anything you could possibly imagine wanting at that time was provided and extra late lunch on Sunday (open til 12!) Didn't bother with the restaurant as the bar man advised we just heat it up in the microwave same as room service, he seemed more bothered about chatting to the drinkers.... reception staff were fantastic though and very helpful. All in all had an amazing holiday, good friendly staff and the best breakfasts ever! Would definitely stay there again.

Standard 4 star hotel in a nice location to explore this lively city .Seems to be used by a lot of airlines for staff accomodation . We found the hotel staff to be very polite and good natured .We had a decent room overlooking the canal , nice Queen sized bed , decent hdtv and bathroom . Having been a few times before to Amsterdam this area was my favourite as a base to explore , a nice upmarket area with decent places to eat , a very nice coffee shop ( katsu , just off the market ), and even it's own mini ( read 4 windows ) red light area if thats your cup of tea . We went to see Boom Chicago on the Leidesplein , about a ten minute walk , museums very close and if walking is not for you the tram stops very close .This is a nice hotel and area for a romantic weekend .
