“Neat Hotel @ a strategic location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014

Very clean and nice Hotel for a reasonable price. Excellent buffet breakfast. The hotel is close to restaurants, city and museums. The only downside is that the Hotel has now parking facilities you either have to use the parking garage at 5 minutes walk or park in the front on the street for approximately 16 EUR per day.

Good afternoon,

thank you for your review regarding your stay in NH Museum Quarter. it is a pleasure to read you enjoyed your stay with us.

Unfortunately, we don't have a parking garage. There are 3 options if you decide to bring a car: park on the street (about € 5 per hour), use a valet parking service (about € 30 per day) or use the Park and Ride dfacilities in Amsterdam. (The last one is the cheapest option).

We are looking forward to welcoming you again.

Kind regards,

We had a very nice staying experience at NH Museum Quarter. I like the brightness, view, and location. Everything is good except for the air conditioner, which needs to be improved especially in the very hot season.

I booked through trivago and got what I thought was an excellent price- on the no refund for a cancellation basis. Not much of a risk in my case as I was leaving the next day.

The hotel was comfortable and clean. The staff were charming and spoke perfect English.

The location was great- which was mostly pot luck. Just out of the craziness of Central Amsterdam, but a short tram ride back in or a twenty minute walk.

The Rijsmuseum and the Van Gogh museums are a few minutes walk away, and it has lovely views over the canal - but then I suppose a lot of places in Amsterdam do.

I didn't bother with any in house catering, as there are so many cheap and tasty options outside ( the Monte verde Italian restaurant just over the bridge had beautiful Italian food at unbelievable prices) so I can't comment on that.

I went with one other adult, but the hotel did look very family friendly, with lots of children and buggies.

All in all, it turned out to be an excellent choice. Highly recommended.

Overall, highly recommended on all fronts

Hotel located near to many attractions and amenities. Made sightseeing easy as plenty of tram and bus stops close by. Pleasant view from front rooms over a canal and at the back a courtyard garden. Would return.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights from 1st - 3rd August along with my daughter. The hotel is in a brilliant location overlooking a beautiful canal which we were lucky enough to have a view of from our room. It is situated right near all the museums, hence the name, and the surrounding area is very pretty and quiet. There are some lovely little cafés and restuarants just over the over side of the canal or if you walk for about 15 minutes you will reach Leidesplein which has an array of restaurants and bars.

We did not eat in the hotel but our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The furniture all looked relatively new but there were several stains on the carpet which weren't very pleasant.

It was our first visit to Amsterdam but I didn't find the staff at reception particularly friendly or forthcoming in giving advice or directions. When I asked where was good to eat nearby I was vaguely pointed in the direction of where some restaurants were and but nobody went out of their way to find out what we wanted to eat and give us detailed information on how to get there. It would also have been nice to have some guidance on the tram system which we found rather confusing as we had never used them before.

I would stay in this hotel again as it was in a lovely location and was central to many of the things we wanted to see.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the canal when you arrive.

Good afternoon,

Dear Mr. XXXX

First of all, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for choosing us for your stay at NH Museum Quarter as well as taking the time to send us your comments through Tripadvisor.

I am very happy to read you enjoyed the location of the hotel as well as the surroundings. Unfortunately, I am aware we have some staines in the carpets which cannot be removed. We are working on a solution for this matter.

I’m worried about the customer service provided by our front office staff as one of our main objectives is to provide an excellent customer service. I will make sure these comments are shared with the Front Office Manager and the Front Office Team.

Thank you again for your comments and we hope that you will give us a second chance, to show you that we are able to provide you with better service.

Please accept my most sincere apologies for any inconvenience this situation may have caused you.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 days while on vacation. Overall, it was a lovely stay. The room and hotel itself wasn't the nicest (stained carpet, old decor), but we slept well and the room was massive. Lots of natural light and a cute little window balcony with a canal view. The best part of the hotel for us, was the location. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy being so far from the city centre, but it was perfect. The charm and beauty of the city was amplified here. Staying away from the craziness (partying, tourists) of the central area was nice. It was a neighbourhood I could imagine living in. Close to the museums, good restaurants and about a 20 minute walk to Dam Square. We booked the hotel on Hotwire so the price was right. I'm not too sure if we would stay at the hotel again, but we loved the area and would return for that.

When travelling to a city like Amsterdam, which you can easily walk to every attraction, we are always looking for a Hotel which is clean, easily accessible by transport means and of course as near the City Centre as it can be. NH Museum Quarter Hotel fulfilled all the above and if we add the spacious room with a canal view we where given then this is a hotel we will definitely return!

The Hotel is situated in the museum quarter of Amsterdam in a quiet street. You can easily walk to every attraction from there but you can also take the tram (the tram stop is a 3 minutes walk from the hotel) and go anywhere you like.

As mentioned above we where given a canal view room on the fifth floor. We enjoyed the views from the room even though we could not open the windows (only one of the windows opens very little to let air pass in the room), i suppose for security reasons. The room was spacious and we could easily move around even with the extra bed we had. The bed was big, comfortable and sleep experience excellent.

There are tea-coffee facilities in the room, a free safe, a fridge and a big flat tv with many
local and international channels.

The room was very clean but the only minus i give for the room is the carpet and the furnitures. The carpet was clean but had many black spots ,same as the furniture which makes them look dirty even though they where clean. (Tip for the Hotel Management, change the carpets and furniture and the rooms will upgrade to excellent).

The bathroom was spacious, clean and water pressure was good as well.

We didn't have breakfast at the hotel so i can't comment on that, but we could easily find
breakfast options near the hotel with reasonable prices.

Staff where generally friendly, well English spoken and generally helped us to anything we wanted. The Italian restaurant near the hotel they suggested was perfect, its a family restaurant called Ristorante Due Napoletani.

The best image i have from this hotel is us returning to our room from a long day walking around Amsterdam, preparing a cup of coffee, sitting near the window and relaxing by watching everyday life in Amsterdam passing by. Boats passing in the canal loaded with friends and families enjoying drinks and listening to music, bicycles and pedestrians passing by...

Room Tip: Get a room with a canal view
