“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

Stayed here on 7th august for 2nights with my 16 yr old son. Hotel was nice and clean but room were bit outdated. Felt for the cost of the rooms it could have been little bit more modern but rooms were spacious compared to other hotels I had seen when looking for a place to stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Felt 3pm check in was very late as we had been up since 4am travelling and arrived at hotel at 9.30 but they have a luggage room so was able to leave bags there.Found room very hot at night as windows don't open but I got a fan when requested at desk which was perfect. Only ate once in hotel.. Club sandwich which was nice, didnt have breakfast as €20 very steep per person but did look like a good variety of hot and cold food. Hotel was only few mins walk from from van gogh museum. Tram was about 30 second walk down to nxt street... Tram 16 and 24 took you straight to Dam Square also Central station. Overall nice hotel if you wanna get out of d hussle of centre but still want to be close to everything. I still think it was overpriced as I have stayed in much more modern hotels for half the price here but then again it is Amsterdam.. A city with plently to eat, see and do.

Spent 2 nights in Amsterdam in July.. wanted to try and find a hotel in a good area for a reasonable price and found it here. My friend and I looked at another NH hotel (Amsterdam Centre), but figured this one was a better location slightly further removed from the center of the action. Great location near the Museumplein, especially with excellent weather. Our room was decent-sized (by European standards) with nice big windows overlooking the canals. The free Wi-Fi was somewhat limited, but otherwise worked fairly consistently. The staff at the front desk was largely helpful. Would definitely stay at this hotel if I returned to Amsterdam.

stayed here for 3 nights Fri - Sun and had the best time ever.
We were upgraded to a superior room on 7th floor , massive windows gave panoramic views over the city plus the pretty canal opposite the hotel. So pleased we didn't opt for a city centre hotel as this area was lovely, lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby plus shops and a brilliant street market. Obviously with the name museums are practically on top of this hotel as are some beautiful parks and gardens. We got a 197 bus outside the airport got us to and from the hotel within half an hour which was easy and very convenient also a fraction of the cost of taxis.
Loved having an ice machine on the landing in the hotel plus a very delicious breakfast.
Only slight complaint was not having air-con in public areas of the hotel but we will definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

I booked this hotel for my boyfriends 30th birthday present. Having emailed in advance to inform the hotel of this, they instantly offered a free upgrade to a room on the seventh floor with views over the canal.

The room was spacious, with beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows giving a view across the city. The air con was highly effective despite the hot temperatures outside, and we were pleasantly surprised to find an actual double bed as opposed to two singles pushed together. There was a flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a large bathroom with bath and over shower.

Upon our return to the hotel room on my boyfriends actual birthday, we were pleasantly surprised to find a complimentary bottle of wine and a note from the DM wishing him a happy birthday. What a lovely touch!

The location is excellent for visiting the museums with several nice restaurants in the vicinity. Overall an excellent choice if you want to avoid the tourist trap that is dam square.

Room Tip: Sixth or seventh floor for panoramic views of the city.

Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights with our 2 year old. Overall we were very happy with our choice and would recommend the hotel.
The standard bedroom was massive. Really nice room with comfy bed and windows onto the canal. The room was quiet which was a bonus with our child. The bathroom was nice. Safe and fridge were welcome additions. Would suggest the TV requires an upgrade as it was a heavy CRT style one. I would agree that the rooms would benefit from a bit of refurbishment, but we did find them comfortable. There were stained patches on the carpets, the kettle was slow and the hairdryer had seen better days. The air con was a big no-no. According to the reception, it wasn't working well because the weather was "too hot". So the room was roasting. They did bring a fan for us, but it didn't really touch it.
We chose room only so can't comment on the food, but the cost of breakfast did seem very high (£15-£20 ish). The reception staff were courteous and reasonably helpful. A little more local knowledge would have been nice when asking questions about where to dine etc. We were a bit annoyed that when we checked in at 3pm our room was not ready and we had to wait one hour for the room. Would have appreciated some complementary drinks.
The location of this hotel is by far its best selling point. Spitting distance from Rijksmuseum and Museumplein. We were also happy with the check-out time which was 12pm, and 5pm on a Sunday. They also offer free Wifi for 24 consecutive hours, however beware as the data is limited and our free time ran out after about 2 hours of Facebook and Gmail use only.
All in all, very happy and would most likely come again.

Stayed here at the NH in June. We had a 6th floor room with great views of all that is Amsterdam : canals, stylish bars and cafes and bicycles. In the distance a small red light area across the bridge was just visible at twilight. The museum quarter is minutes away and tram line to the centre is close by. Room was large and clean although not chic. Staff excellent and breakfast for all tastes. We are going back !

Room Tip: For Amsterdam vistas go 6th or 7th floor

Room Tip: Beds are soft so be sure to check comfortability. Rooms overlooking canal make for great ambiance.
