“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

We had a top floor room overlooking the canal, which was pretty. The room was large and clean. The hotel staff were friendly. Location was great as it was quiet, next to the canal and we were able to walk everywhere. It took us about 15-20mins to walk to the centre so we didn't use the tram, although that is very close and frequent if you do wish to use it. Lovely little cafes, bars and restaurants nearby.

The hotel suited our purpose, but little improvements could lead to a higher rating. Only two pillows, plus one spare; only two teabags per day. Breakfast was offered at 20 euros per day when breakfast deals at 7 or 8 euros were on offer within walking distance. The hotel lacked atmosphere, not least because the routs from entrnace to stairs / lift did not pass reception, so virtually no human contact

Stayed at the NHL Museum Hotel for 3 nights and found it really good and convenient. It was less than 5 minutes walk to the tram stop, take a 16 or 24 tram to the city centre. We didn't eat there so can't rate the breakfast instead we walked 2 blocks and at breakfast at the Bagel and Beans. Highly recommend it.
The only negative thing about the Hotel was the smell of smoke but that's probably to be expected as I have never seen so many smokers in my life as in Amsterdam. Makes you realise how far ahead NZ is when it comes to controlling when and where people can light up.
All in all a nice hotel, good price and spacious room.

Stayed 3 nights in this hotel. The room was very well equipped: with safe, kettle, iron, empty fridge to keep your stuff and free Wifi (recently established).
The bathroom was big and the room had plenty of space to move on, with lots of towels. We were on the last floor and had a very good view. The room was very nice and clean with new furniture. Bed was comfortable.

I really liked the location because it was a very quiet neighborhood, close to the museums and Iamsterdam sign. There is a huge Albert Heijn supermarket 10 min walking distance of the hotel, it's about 20 minute walking to the dam square and 5 minutes to Leidseplein and 10 to Hard Rock Cafe We only used tram in the arrival and departure, but we are walkers. Anyway, the walk back home from the center its very nice and safe.

We did not have breakfast because it was very overpriced and there are plenty places to eat nearby. The staff were very nice and helpful.

I would come back to this hotel and certainly recommend it to anyone who will visit this amazing city, Amsterdam!

We enjoyed many aspects of this hotel - location, in room refrigerator and coffee/tea service but were disappointed in the cleaning of the room - not vacuumed, coffee not replenished. However we were most surprised to receive an additional bill after we paid in full online. We were charged a daily city tax PLUS an addition 20 euros for some mistake made when we booked. The front desk did not take responsibility for their mistake and insisted we pay the additional fee and city tax. Quite unprofessional - I'd suggest that anyone checking in at this hotel address these issues before hand rather than receiving a "surprise" bill upon check out.

This hotel was perfect for us. The room was huge - a full size sofa, small table and two chairs, large desk and chair. There was also Free Wi-Fi, a small refrigerator, a hairdryer "station" with it's own mirror and plug-in (how many times to you end up in a hotel with no where to do your hair without monopolizing the bathroom?!) as well as iron and ironing board, and coffee/tea service. The bathroom was good sized and has a lighted make-up mirror. Shower was great. I can't think of anything negative to say. It isn't overly luxurious - but very nice, clean and well-equipped. Very close to the main museums and the Albert Cuyp Market. We found lots of good restaurants nearby.
