“Huge room close to tram stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2011

This hotel satisfied all of our needs. While not in very city center near Dam Square, it's right on a tram stop so getting to/from the hotel was a cinch. The hotel was very clean and the room was huge and equipped with the basics. I particularly liked the luggage nook and the makeup mirror.

The breakfast was delicious and had a nice array of choices. We were able to secure a breakfast included deal which was nice and they extend breakfast hours until noon on Sundays....perfect for those who sleep in after a busy Saturday night.

There's also a mini-Red Light window display just across the canal for those who are curious but who don't want to venture to the District. Don't worry though, I would still encourage families to stay here due to it's close proximity to the museums, Leidseplein, and tram. We didn't even realize there were red lights so close until our last night in town. It's not terribly overt.

Overall a great stay. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the canal and on a higher floor.

We booked our rooms at NH Museum Quarter from their own website at a very fair rate compared to other Amsterdam Hotels. (around 86€/night) The hotel is in a good, safe and clean location, we were offered a room on third floor with canal views, our room was spacious and clean, in general our lodging experience was well above average.

As other reviewers have commented, the extra services are priced very high, we didn't pay for breakfast it is not worth paying 12€ for, the internet was really expensive and although we paid for it, the connection and speed was horrible from our room. TV was really old, pay tv and other interactive options didn't work, not so many channels. The minibar was empty, but we stored some food in it which solved our breakfast issue.

Some of the front office personnel was really rude as other reviewers mentioned. We had language barriers with one, who got really mad at us, then started laughing in our face which was really weird.

Overall, for a clean, reasonably priced alternative in Amsterdam, definitely consider this hotel! But don't expect too much other than that. We are giving four stars for location, rooms and price.

Room Tip: We didn't experience any noise problems from canal side room.

This hotel is located at an excellent location near the museums and main attractions in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, this is the only positive thing that I could think about after my stay there.

I had expected much more for a 164 euros/night room!

First of all, internet was awfully slow in my room. For a charge of almost 10 euros per 24 hours, I had expected a more reliable connection. Instead of this, it took minutes to open any web page, and it was impossible to send any business email with even a small attachment.

The room looked also quite "oldish" with its past century's voluminous bulky television (and tiny screen). Again, for such prices, I expect a flat screen in the room!

My mattress was extremely soft, which made it hard to sleep, and wake up with back ache.

The ventilation blew only cold air, even when set at the maximum temperature.

Breakfast was just ok, but the staff there was unbearable, running after each other, shouting from one side of the breakfast room to the other, not the kind of things you expect to quietly start your day. Besides, there as well, despite the 3°C outside temperature, ventilation was blowing cold air!

I will not go again to this hotel unless with a much better deal on the room price.

Room Tip: Room on street side was quite well isolated, and I did not hear street noises.

We stayed at NH MUseum Quarter for 3 nights in November. It was an easy and affordable spot to reach from the airport (take the 197 bus to and from the airport for 4 euros each way per person and it is a beautiful 5 minute walk from the hotel). It is also only 5 minutes from the VanGogh museum and the Rijk. And right past there is the Leidsplein.

Back to the hotel...the staff was WONDEFUL. They were helpful with all our needs and abundance of questions without ever looking annoyed. Knowledgeable about the city and if they were stumped they looked into it and got back to us. Our room was basic but large, especially for Europe when it is hard to find family rooms. It was room 110, which got bad reviews for noise, however we had the windows closed because it was Winter and didn't hear a thing from outside. The beds were so so but the pillows were great. We were so tired from walking and exploring that we didn't mind the tube tv either.

If we return to AMsterdam, which I'd love too, we would definately stay there again.

Good location, very close to art museums. Also easy to get to on tram from central station.
Nice quiet canalside location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious too. relatively quiet but easy to get to the nightlife.

My brother and I took our Mother to Amsterdam for her 75th birthday and we stayed at the NH Museum Quarter. It was in a good location. Away from the hustle and bustle. But close enough to the tram and boat.
The hotel staff was very friendly and when ever we had a question they were right there to assist us.

Room Tip: See if you can get a canal view.

Spacious rooms with a nice view of the canal, one block away from all museums. It's also very close to a bus stop, which is great for getting around town. The rooms could use a remodel, but they're not bad at all for the price we paid. It was a great experience up until the last day, when the front desk personnel threatened to call the police to make us leave. We were late for checkout for 30min and were willing to pay extra for another day if it was the case, but the staff did not allow us to. They were rude, unpolite and called every 3min, which made it harder for us to pack our stuff and finally go. This is definintely not how a quiet couple should be treated. If we were in a group of 10 loud and messy teens we would understand this treatment, but not for a couple. And definitely not for a 30min delay. Disappointing.
