“Convenient location, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

Loved this small & friendly hotel, very near park and downtown. On a quiet residential street. Staff were so accommodating and helpful. Great buffet breakfast (10 eu) . Situated w. a lovely garden in the back. Only complaint was the shower, could not prevent it from shooting all over the br floor. My companion enjoyed hearing my "arguing" w. the shower each am as it shot out past the flimsy shower curtain, onto the sparkling white floor. Otherwise, excellent experience.

We chose the hotel due to the location and they had a quadruple room option. Our quad room was on the ground floor, number 3, was very large and had 4 single beds, small bathroom, desk, fridge, tv, wardrobe with a free to use, self programmable safe, small table and 2 bucket chairs with still plenty of floor space for 4 women to move around in comfortably, access to the patio courtyard outside, and cleaned daily. This room was located underneath reception and the upstairs patio area, so if you want a lie in past breakfast time, wear ear plugs as you can hear the chairs moving and people walking up the outside stairs from the courtyard to reception. But the breakfast period was the only time we heard any noise. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful and gave their time to help us with our questions and needs. The street was very quiet, and just at the end of leidse square, and 2 minutes from Vondelpark. Within walking distance of the museumplein with the Van Gogh and the Rijkmusuem, and within walking distance to the Anne Frank House, and a short tram ride up to the train station. 2.80 euros for an hours ticket. We had not been able to book tickets online for the Anne Frank House, but knew the queues were long, we arrived at 6.15pm on a Thursday evening and were in by 7pm, and out by 8.30pm and they closed at 9pm.The experience was very moving and well worth a visit, and a bargain at 9 euros for an adult ticket. The Van Gogh musuem was excellant, 15 euros was a bit pricey but 3 floors of his whole collection and and a very well stocked gift shop! Book a timed entry ticket from the shop, located in the middle of the musuemplein next to the water feature between the van gogh and the rijkmusuem to avoid the queues. I would recommend seeing the canals by boat, we used the Blue Boat company, located 5 minutes walk from the hotel, which if you ask the staff at the hotel, will give you a card and you get 10% discount. We did the city tour which was originally 15 euros, so 13.50 with the discount card and lasted 75 minutes, a very relaxing way to see Amsterdam. Beware of the bicylces! Amsterdam is filled with bicycles and be careful crossing the road as you have to cross the cycle lanes, road and tram lanes sometimes so look both ways and only go on green!!!
We had an fabulous stay and would definately return.

I took several days to choose a hotel in Amstersam that was central but not noisy at night, I also wanted a welcoming atmosphere which we definitely received, the staff are a credit to this hotel whom make you feel welcome and special, they are very helpful. The rooms were great, beds very comfy, very clean all round. Lovely terrace to enjoy morning coffee or evening drinks, many types of birds flying around and attractive flowers. Next too museums and all other sites within 1km.

We chose this hotel based on a Rick Steves review. At first glance, the place is just nice-ish. Sort of like a grown-up person's hostel. But after a few days, the friendly staff and neighborhood grew on us. The location is very quiet, and our room looked out into a lovely courtyard, with lots of parrots and other birds singing in the mornings. The hotel is clean, modestly appointed, and the beds are super comfortable. The vent shaft behind our room was problematic, if we opened the window on that side of the room, we were quickly reminded that sewage odors are common in the city of diamonds. We just left that window shut and the problem was corrected. The wifi worked pretty well, a feature we had struggled with in other hotels on our vacation. Also, our room had enough room to relax in, and had a dorm sized refrigerator, very nice. Overall, we'd say, a great value in a great location.

Avg hotel in a good location for access to the major museums. Houskeeping in public area needs attention as there was a good deal of dust on surfaces. Staff was very attentive and available. Structure of hotel did not allow direct elevator access to all floors.

The hotel is a boutique style so everything, the room, breakfast room, terrance are all as if you were at home. The staff complete the picture. Anything you need to know, anything you need arranged, or just a warm welcome and conversation when you come back, it's all right here. Close to everything in the Leidesplein, every kind of dining, or connections to trams and rental cars are all right here. We'll be back!

This is a lovely hotel, we stayed from Monday 26th May until Friday 30th May 2014. Staff were all so friendly! We had a triple room booked and it was a really good size! We had three single beds, a dressing table with a chair and three tub style chairs with a round table and still had lots of space in the room! There wasn't any need to be shuffling around each other which was excellent! Bathroom was a good size too! We only had breakfast on the Friday morning as we had to check out by 11 o'clock so can't comment too much but based on the breakfast on the Friday it was nice, a good choice and they were constantly replenishing items. Noticed that on some reviews that people have commented that the wi-fi wasn't very good and they could only get a connection in the reception. We never had a problem with the wi-fi! We were in room 21 which is second floor out of the three floors and it worked great for us on all three phones and two tablets!

Would recommend this hotel to others without a doubt!

Room Tip: We asked for a room on a higher floor facing out onto Vondelstraat and they accommodated that no pro...
