“Great Hospitality and Good Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

Found this gem wandering the streets. The service and hospitality was fantastic well above Dutch standards (because they are Japanese). Very traditional Japanese food, our son's chicken teriyaki was very good but the sushi as average - at least they didn't put mayonnaise in the rolls. We would go back but just for the atmosphere and to talk with the hostesses.

“Top quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

Had the sashimi meal (with soup and salad), it was extremely fresh and delicious. Definitely the best Japanese I have had in Amsterdam, and some of the best anywhere.

Near perfect service from a lovely old Japanese woman who barely spoke English (not a problem, the menu has pictures and she does well enough). Scenic view of the canal, funny Japanese shows on the TV, and half the other customers were Asian. Maximum authentic, definitely a must for real sushi lovers.

As far as cons, the place is tiny, and you may have to wait, and it isn't for large rowdy groups. That said, it IS worth it if you like quality and authenticity!

“My all-time-favorite in Amsterdam”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

Not only is this place small and cozy, it's one of those restaurants you would never even find, let alone dare to go into if someone did not take you there. But once you do, you go back for sure! At least I tend to go there every time in Amsterdam. A true hidden diamond.

The place is veeery small, so reserve if you really want a seat. And if you want the best seat, reserve a table next to the window overlooking the canal.

You will get an authentic experience of Japan in the middle of Amsterdam (well, I have never been to Japan but this feels very authentic) with the whole family in on the business. Mom pealing garlic etc next to front desk, daughter serving and dad in the kitchen (at least seems like this :)) Just so cute and friendly.

Sushi is great, fresh and really tasty, price is very good too! Grilled dishes are yummy too. Big groups will not fit here, best to go with 2 or 4.

“A true piece of Japan in Amsterdam”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

Do no get confused by simple look of the place: it offers one of the best example of japanese cuisine in the city,
It is not cheap but it has a great choice of plates, if not sure chose a mix plate to taste a little bit of everything.
Excellent.
