I have been here 3 or 4 times, but was surprised when it was closed down for some town. Later I read in the local and national newspapers why that was. It re-opened late 2013.
When I first got there with 2 friends, small and cosy pub with beer specialities. O.K. they were over-priced, about 20% more expensive than other pubs close by selling the same special beers on a better location with a view on the squares, canals and streets, putting that aside it has its charm as a small pub.
The surrealistic afternoon I spent there with an American friend was us entering Gollem and everyone, literally everyone, in Gollem was drinking Pauwel Kwaks using the wooden stands the laboratory glasses are put in. that was so awkward, and funny. The pub has a nice atmosphere, but can be way too crowded, and if you want to use the lavatory then it is a) difficult and b) unpleasant for the people sitting close to the lavatory door, they constantly have to stand up and move their chairs. Unfortunately it is charging way too much,
