“Great location but hard to sleep with open windows!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

This is one charming hotel, brand new, great service, excellent location. Would have been 5 stars but we love sleeping with windows open and it was virtually impossible due to constant noise outside. If you are ok with it, stay

Room Tip: Room 102 (extra large superior)

Thank you for reviewing your stay at Hotel V Nesplein! Excellent to hear that you had a nice stay, but sorry that people on the street kept you awake! Next time ask at reception for our complementary ear plugs! As Amsterdammers we are used to the noise, but we have a whole supply of earplugs on standby for those that aren't.

Until next time,
Amanda

Loved this hotel for the decor, friendly staff and location. The restaurant in the lobby was also excellent with outdoor seating. My only complaint would be the courtyard off of the hotel is shared by a bar/restaurant and it get really loud on a Friday night until the late hours. Our room was 214 and sleeping was almost impossible with the bar noise in the courtyard.

Thank you for your review. Sorry that the bar crowd disturbed your sleep. Next time please ask at reception for ear plugs! We have them ready and waiting (and free!), as we know that not everyone is used to the sounds of citylife.

Kind Regards,
Amanda

Nice hotel, with good location, obligated us to a second room instead of a larger room with an additional bed, because of our two 7 year old kids
There was serious construction noise in the morning at seven am
Staff in restaurant extremely friendly

Thank you for reviewing your stay at Hotel V Nesplein. Sorry to hear that the nearby construction disturbed your sleep. You can bet our General Manager had a word or two to say to the construction site about that! Next time, perhaps you can pre-book a suite so that the whole family can stay together in the same room.
Kind Regards,
Amanda

Upon arrival on an ordinary late Monday night this hotel immediately felt special: struck by the beauty of the Lobby's interior with it's magnificent giant chandelier it took us some minutes (and many Oh's and Ah's later) to reach the stylish frontdesk where a kind young man wished us a warm welcome. Great staff: very professional, friendly and helpful!
After check in we found a spot at a table in one of the cosy corners of the splendid Lobby restaurant/bar next to the beautiful vintage globe (with real liquor inside!) and fire place. We enjoyed the nice view on the Nes street where we saw local people passing by on their way to explore the capital's vibrant night life. After a knowledgeable explanation on the extensive wine list we chose a delicious Vouvray dessert wine. Although the kitchen was already closed the bar lady made an exception for me (that's good service!) and let me taste one of their superb desserts: walnut-choco mousse cake with salted caramel and creme cru ice cream. Tired but satisfied we went up to our room (spacious, light, luxury but unpretentious with a great eye for detail) where very comfortable beds were waiting for us. Beautiful large bath room with a lovely rain shower AND bath! Well rested we could start the next day fresh after enjoying V's Full Amsterdam breakfast which kept my belly full for the entire day.
We had a perfect and memorable stay and we will definitely come back soon! Thumbs up for the V crew!
PS. Make sure you have the house specialty Flammkuchen for lunch! Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Probeer een kamer met bad te boeken!

I love this review! You definitely have a way with words, and I am so glad that you had a great stay and made proper use of the whole hotel (drinks, dinner, lunch, breakfast, lobby, bathtub, bed, etc).
Oh and that salted caramel chocolate cake?! TO DIE FOR, right? Here's to hoping it stays on the menu long enough for your next visit!

Very impressed with the friendly and helpful staff in this new hotel. It's located on a cut-through road that has some nice restaurants/bars but is generally quieter than hotels on the main roads. We had a standard room and it was more than large enough for us, clean, very comfortable bed, good lighting/TV tea/coffee making facilities. Has a sort of industrial vibe in places - the 'wardrobe' was made out of metal pipes and chipboard shelves. The communal areas are very smart, as is the restaurant which looks especially nice in the evening with the lighting and candles everywhere. Corridors to rooms are, as people have said, pretty oppressive dark brown but who cares as you don't stay in these. We requested a quiet room and stayed on the top floor at the end of a corridor. No noise heard from other rooms which was good, however, there was a lot of noise from a bar which our room overlooked which even closed windows did little to suppress. Was particularly bad on a Friday night probably due to post-work crowd drinking in a bar next door, but was relatively ok on subsequent nights. Breakfast was good, and if you have an evening meal as we did it was really excellent and, again, lovely staff. They helped us with choices and will also help with directions, taxis, etc,

Room Tip: For quietest rooms, ask for top floor at the back of the hotel but not overlooking De Brakke Grond b...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay! So glad you had a good time and caught the "industrial" vibe that we tried to mix with a more classic feeling.
See you again soon!

A fantastic location just tucked away off Dam Square. A friendly welcome in a small but design led interior. Room was lovely and clean, but could be described as austere but in a designer way...so good...albeit a little dark....but would definitely stay here again

Quirky decor, very nice staff, and clean new facility. The area is very dense, and very close to tourist centre. The rooms lack refinement, and overall the impression is of a budget boutique hotel, but a nice one. Hotel was overbooked and there was some confusion about our room upon arrival. Call before to make sure everything is ok. Also parking is super-expensive in Amsterdam and the the lots nearby are very pricey. The off-season rates make more sense.
