“Nice!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014

We stayed here, 4 girls, for a girly night out in Amsterdam.
It is on walking distance to all the attractions in the city Center.
Located on the water, on the second floor in a nice neighbourhood ( on the border of Jordaan)
They have two rooms, so we had both. One had a full bathroom the other shower and sink and washroom in the hallway.
Clean, nice decorated, good beds. We had a good time.
They do not have breakfast but they do have a deal with a nearby breakfast/lunch place.
We went there and had a nice breakfast for 10 Euro.
We all enjoyed the stay and if in the city I will go back.

This was a clean, basic accommodation in pricey Amsterdam. Located on the third floor of a house that houses others on other levels, notice at night was not a problem. Only two rooms, one has ensuite, the other has their toilet facility across the hall, abutting the other room's bathroom. Owner very nice and helpful.

Room Tip: Select the room NOT on the canal side to get the full ensuite bathroom,

This was a nice location for visiting Amsterdam center. The location in Jordaan, a quiet neighborhood, is a good place for starting and ending your day. You can reach it from Amsterdam Centraal in 20 minutes walking or in 6-7 minutes with bus 18.

Pros:
- owner attitude towards guests
- nice touch with free chocolate candies, water/soda drinks and tea making facilities.
- room was cleaned daily

I have a small advice for the owner: the shower in our room needs some improvements and also the shower curtain could be changed.

Just returned from 3 nights at the B&B Marnix. Location is in Jordaan but not right in the heart of things - however, as mentioned below, it is very close to a range of attractions in the city as well as being convenient for buses to/from the Centraal Station on arrival by train and trams which will take you to the major museums when you develop blisters! We had the trip room - one of the few places that offered a twin - which is large and with a great deal of character. The room has its own small bathroom with a good shower and sole use of a toilet across the hall. All was kept extremely clean and towels replaced after second day. Richard was on hand if needed but also very unobtrusive. Not far from the accommodation there are several places to eat on Westerstraat which also has a couple of supermarkets, off licence and chemists. It was not a terribly quiet location, despite the room overlooking the Singelgracht (Singel canal - did the boat tour!) but then it is in a residential area and there is a reasonably busy road the other side of the canal. If we wanted somewhere quieter, we wouldn't have had the ideal location so it's a good compromise to make. Would recommend.

My wife and I stayed at the B&B marnix for 2 nights. The room was very nice - pretty large, cosy, quite, very clean and with nice view of the canal. The location is also great - short walk from the center. Richard, the owner, was extremely nice and helpful. Great value for the money - highly recommended.

The neighborhood where this B&B is located is not far from the Anne Frank house. We arrived late into Amsterdam and instead of trying to navigate the public transportation we took a cab. The cab got us right to the front door and we were greeted by Richard despite being so late. Since we didn't have long in the city we immediately ran into the center of town but made it no problem. It was probably a 15 minute walk in the dark. I'm positive we did not take the most direct route. Though this is not a place right in the center of the action that's what makes it so special. The area around the B&B was very residential and really quiet. We had a room overlooking the canal and it was large and clean. I was only sad we didn't have more time to explore around the B&B itself. Maybe next time!

Room Tip: Ask for the room overlooking the canal, it's such a great view.

I stayed at the Marnix B&B for 2 nights at the start of April with my partner. We have previously stayed at another B&B in Jordaan and find the area to be an ideal base. It has plenty going on without big crowds, but is still within walking distance of the centre of the city.

The Marnix overlooks a canal and the location is very peaceful. The room was spotless with modern facilities including a lovely bathroom with rain shower and double sinks. Beds were clean and comfy and there was a TV with free view, tea, coffee, complimentary soft drinks and lots of local information to hand. The only thing missing for me was a safe in the room which is just my personal preference.

Richard was extremely polite and helpful, waiting to greet us on our arrival and keeping us updated via text and providing candles when their was an unfortunate power cut!

I would recommend the Marnix B&B and would happily stay here again.
