“Love this hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

Stayed here recently at the end of a work trip for some fun.

Absolutely loved everything about the hotel! Check in was great with a glass of prosecco whilst we waited. The staff were so friendly recommending bars for us to visit & offering to get us into the secret bar nearby & genuinely seemed to are of everything was ok for you.

Room was lovely, loved the shower room. Coffee pods as appreciated also.

Bar was fun with yummy cocktails. Did not eat dinner here but looked like it would have been great.

Breakfast was great & super fresh.

The hotel reminded me of the Hoxton in London, will definitely be back when I return to Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Request a river view

Dear Twinkletravel1,

On behalf of Sir Albert I want to thank you for your kind and lovely words regarding the Mansion of Sir Albert and also for sharing your Sir Albert Hotel experience on Tripadvisor.

Next time you visit Amsterdam Sir Alberts highly recommends to try the delicious food at the Japanese IZAKAYA Asian Kitchen & Bar.

When Sir Albert visits London he will definitely take a peek at the Hoxton Hotel. Once again thank you, and it will be an honor for us to welcome you again in the near future.

Warm regards,

Barbara de Jong

Seriously, the bed is so comfy in this place! I was enveloped in a cloud like envelope of bedroom perfection! I had such a good sleep in the bed!

Which is pretty amazing given that the rooms at the front of the hotel on friday night at least had a lot of ambient street noise in them (tram, music, people laughing and shouting etc) so if they ever refurbish better windows (double glazed would be a good start) and sound proofing should be on the list. But other than this the hotel is great.

A glass of prosecco on check in was a nice touch, the check in staff also took the time to explain the city and provide a map showing some must visit places. We also had a look on trip advisor of where to eat in the local area and were wary of Amsterdam's some what poor culinary reputation - pricey and average is the order of the day in most places.

Well, look no further than the Italian opposite - Monte Verde. Amazing value and great food.

The hotel restaurant also looked very nice, but we didn't have time to sample it for dinner or breakfast, also looked like standard 4* hotel price.

The hotel is nicely decorated, but the finish is tarting to wear a bit, like the seals round baths etc - not enough to dent the impression of the stay or be a problem - but something that shouldn't be noticed by guest - perhaps they need a rolling room refurb / maintenance programme.

Shower is excellent! Hot and gushing. Lovely!

Great place to stay, priced for the weekend, but amazing value in the week. great location with lots of nice local amenities and not too far from the town centre, a short tram ride or walk away.

Room Tip: nice views from the front, but try the back for a quiet sleep on the weekend.

I have stayed in boutique hotels around the world, generally I try to avoid them because they tend to be "all show and no go". I can't say that about the Sir Albert, what makes this hotel unique are the staff, who ever trains these people understands how customers want to be treated. To the manager, look after these good people, they make your hotel fabulous.

The hotel is located in an area of Amsterdam that is away from the hustle and bustle but if that's what you like, it's five minutes walk away or a two minute tram trip.

Our room was well appointed, everything was high end and I don't think I have slept in such luxurious linen at any hotel. The room had a view of the canal, was quiet, had all the items you would of expect of a boutique hotel and was extremely clean. I did however find the room a bit on the small side, but it certainly was not uncomfortable.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and the breakfast was also great. I am told the restaurant is the best in Amsterdam for Asian fusion food and judging by the diners each night I think this may be true.

If you stay at this hotel you won't be disappointed, I certainly will be back and thanks to all the great staff who made our stay so enjoyable. in particular the lady that checked us in and Tim the guy who helped us with out luggage.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a canal view if you can. Include the breakfast in your stay Try the restau...

This hotel stands out as the best hotel to stay in - location perfect - on the tram for the city centre- near the RAI and in the De Pijp district.

The Japanese Restuarant is top notch with a DJ mixing great tracks.

The rooms are not huge but perfect for a few nights.

We stayed on the first floor above the restuarant - bit nosy at night from the music below - the only fault for this hotel.

Service from checkin to departure - faultless !

My husband and I stayed here for Valentine's weekend and had a great stay. The hotel is very easy to find, right on the tram line (16 & 24). Lovely building, great location near the Albert Cuyp market and only ten minutes walk from the museum district.
We arrived at 11am hoping to leave our cases, but the very helpful staff allowed us to check in early which was a pleasant surprise. We had a ground floor boutique room which was very nice and had a rose on the bed for St Valentine's Day! The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in, the walk in shower was fantastic, and the room overall was very good if not a little small. The only thing we found odd is that the windows are above headhight so there is not really any outlook.
If you like Indian food then a trip to the Balti House across the street is a must! It looks a little old fashioned from the outside but the food is excellent! Booking required as it's very popular.

Room Tip: Boutique rooms are fine - well laid out with excellent furnishings and finish, but not if you want a...

I have stayed in several boutique hotels in Amsterdam. They are usually great. However, this one really stands out. The prices were great, the service very professional, the decor relaxed and cool and the rooms very comfortable. Definitely worth a stay. I had a street front room with a tram but I was on the fourth floor. I used a white sound app on my phone to drown this out. It wasn't loud, but I am a light sleeper.

We spent a weekend at Sir Albert Hotel in February 2014 and really enjoyed our stay.
Overall I would say that the hotel is great value for money.

The staff is very polite and attentive. They gave us great tips on where to eat and things to do based on our 'lifestyle' and they were very helpful in booking us a spa treatment at the very last minute.

Our room was the Deluxe Suit - quite small but very well designed and equipped: super comfortable bed with soft bedsheets, great music/TV system with amazing sound, free high speed WIFI, handy coffee machine, lovely shower and perfect temperature.

The Hotel is located just outside the city centre (about 20 minutes walk) in a lovely neighborhood near the museums (10 mins walk). There are plenty of nice little restaurants, cafes and bars in the area, and even if it's still a highly visited district, it feels more 'authentic' and local than the typical touristic spots.

We will definitely come back.
