“Modern charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

The Andaz Amsterdam is excellent example of Hyatt's upscale, boutique hotels. The decor in the public spaces is fabulous - blend of tradition and modern. The guest rooms are modern simplicity and well appointed. Staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. We had breakfast each morning in the hotel restaurant. The daily breakfast buffet was very varied and reflected local cuisine. The hotel's location on of the cities most picturesque canals adds to the delightful experience. It is in central location and is in walking distance or very convenient to public transportation to visit all the city has to offer. The surrounding neighborhood is great to explore - enticing restaurants, shops -including coffee shops! and historical sites. Take advantage of bikes hotel has available (though limited) or rent bikes to really experience Amsterdam as a local.

Room Tip: If you have the option definitely upgrade to canal side room which really adds to the experience of...

I typically stay in Amsterdam once or twice a quarter and the Andaz is an excellent hotel with a great location. Their staff and boutique feel bring an unsurpassed comfort during my travels. I also have to admit the new beds are quite comfy.

I don't normally rave about hotels but this one deserves a good mention. We stayed here for 3 nights from 02 Dec. Arriving at midnight, tired and cold, we were met by a lovely lady who sat us down in reception with a nice comp drink, checked us in filled us in about the hotel - our suitcase was whisked up to our room. An upgrade to a canal view room was given, and I thought that the room decor was really great - funky without being too out there. Nice touches like free snacks and soft drinks from the mini bar is so refreshing compared to the usual astronomical mini bar charges for these things. Breakfast was scrummy too with eggs cooked every which way and nice sides to go with - or there is always the fresh to order pancakes with maple syrup.
Overall the staff were really friendly and helpful, the hotel design was awesome and the rooms spotless. Walking distance to most things too.
I would definitely stay here again every time visiting Amsterdam.

Room Tip: canal view rooms better in my opinion

The Hyatt Andaz Prinsengracht Amsterdam is a wonderful unique hotel loaded with quirky art and furniture. The entrance and some of the rooms face the Prinsengracht Canal.

Service is 5 star; the employees will arrange anything for you that they can.

The location is close to all of the fun happenings in Amsterdam without being near the noise or touristy areas around Central Station and Dam Square. It is near the Sunday organic farmers' market at Noordmarket, the Rijksmuseum, the Anne Frank House, and Vondel Park for a stroll or jog.

The breakfast is amazing! From the smoked salmon/halibut/mackerel to the organic goat cheese/ yoghurts to the delicious pastries/ multi-grain brown breads/brioche "French toast", it is something to look forward to every morning before heading out to explore.

Rooms are a bit bizarre with the sink and vanity on an island in the middle of the room. Beds are extremely comfortable.

The lobby living room is a cozy place to have a drink, read your emails, and meet other guests...if you want. It is like a "Club Lounge" at street level facing the canal for use by everyone in the hotel.

We would happy to stay there on our next trip to Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Prinsengracht Canal

Welcome party at reception was great. Very hospitable feeling. Housekeeping changing my sheets at 5:30PM was big turn-downer as I had to prepare for a meeting at 6PM. But for the rest of the stay - fantastic. Well done.

Room Tip: Rooms facing inwards have excellent ambience

We stayed in this hotel for one night. The check-in is very relaxed and convenient. The style of the hotel is crazy but nice. Everything is brand new. The rooms are good - there is no real bathroom which might not be everybody's cup of tea. The sink is in the room toilette and shower are somehow separate however never stay with a colleague (or someone you are not very close with) in the same room at this hotel :-)
The family-style dinner (lot's of dishes are served to the table and everybody takes from everything) was very good, as well as breakfast. Location is great.
