“Very Nice for short stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

I stayed in the Golden Tulip for two weeks on a business trip, and whilst this hotel is very nice this was long enough as eventually you find the bad points!

The hotel is well located for local business and central Amsterdam can be reached in 20 minutes by train or tram. On arrival the check in was efficient and the staff were very welcoming providing lots of information on local attractions and travel etc.

My room was spacious very modern, clean and comfortable and ideal for a business visitor.

The breakfast at the hotel was excellent with a very large choice and selection. In the evening a buffet is held for €24.50 (not including alcoholic drinks) with a great selection of salads, fish, oysters, desserts and main course options. You can also have various types of meat or fished cooked for you by the chefs. My only point here is that the meat is not the greatest quality and everything is cooked in oil, not the most healthy choice! For the price the buffet is OK, but when spending 2 weeks there you will really need to get out as it the same, night in night out!

On the whole this is a good business hotel for a few nights, but is not ideal for longer term stays in the City.

This hotel is huge but copes well with the number of visitors. The restaurant sells you a buffet for 2 hours for £22 which includes a large selection of dishes. However this is the only option unless you have a plate of fries from the bar. There are no local cafes so its either eat in Amsterdam or the restaurant which is not much of a choice. The reception staff were helpful and knowledgeable about the area.
The rooms were of a good size and the beds very comfortable. Strange tea flavours were available in the room though?
Breakfast was £13 which seemed expensive until you pay £15 for egg on toast and a coffee in Amsterdam. The buffet style breakfast was therefore a far better option - lesson learnt.
Overall we would stay there again

Room Tip: Room at the front gives a good view and go as high as the 7th floor - its even better. Only 3 spaces...

Overall, this hotel was easy to find and rooms were very spacious. We stayed in a room with three adults, the room was huge and we never felt like we were stepping over each other. The breakfast was large with plenty to choose from. The location was close to the tram which was very convenient and easy to travel into town. This is a great hotel to stay at if you are driving to Amsterdam, very secure and safe parking.

After spending a long time trying to book a hotel near Amsterdams center , i decided to book Golden Tulip for 6 nights ,hotels near the center are overpriced , since Amsterdam has a good and efficient public transportation u dont need to be in the center to have a pleasent stay . A real 4 stars hotel with a 5 stars service , nothing to complain about . tram station is 50 meters from the hotel , to go to the center take tram 12 , and change to 13 . reception staff will tell u exactly what to do . room was spacious clean with good sleep quality , breakfast 15 eur / day , expensive maybe , but worths it . I do recommend this hotel.

Trying to find somewhere in Amsterdam that was modern as well as clean and close to town. Everything was really expensive in town but when I found this, it was perfect. The tram line is right outside the hotel and is a 5-10 minute ride to town. First night had a double room and was small but by no means too small. Then went to a triple room (there was only one on the hotel) and it was very spacious and had everything you would need. Little things like the pump soap in the bathroom and shower perfect for travellers.

We stayed here for 3 nights recently and it was really lovely We parked our car in the hotel car park and walked up the stairs directly into the hotel. On arrival the reception staff were friendly and welcoming and gave us advice on the tram service after checking us in. Our room, 137, was lovely and modern with a big bathroom, good bright lighting and a coffee machine. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet. Breakfast offered a vast choice from breads, pastries, cooked bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, ham, cheeses, salads, juices, freshly squeezed oranges, friut, cereals, yogurt. They will even cook you an omelet or fried egg if you ask.
The bar DAM was lovely and the waiters friendly. You can get snack food there and we had pizza slice and fries for 6 euros each. Their large mugs of chips and mayo are yummy too.
There is also a large lounge area with sofas and a bookcase where you can borrow books.
The hotel is about a 20 minute tram ride to Dam Square and run every 10 minutes from just across the road from the hotel.
