“Nice to come back to”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2014

Traveled with 2 young adults. Stayed 4 nights in room 122 which had one king and 2 twins pushed together. Room was very spacious. One side table for each side of the beds with ample outlets. Location of the hotel is away from the hustle and bustle of central Amsterdam and was generally quiet. Transportation is just one block away...tram 12 and bus 64. Very easy to get to and from Schiphol. We felt very safe walking around the area , even late at night.

Front desk was excellent. Very helpful with all our needs. Allowed us early check-in which was greatly appreciated. Easy, quick check-out. Excellent wifi in the room...log in once and you were never logged off. Will definitely try to stay here again and will recommend to others.

This was a great spring break for us! Tulip time...

Some complaints: some towels had stains on them (smelled clean but was yellow tinged in parts). Noise from room next door...hangers banging in the closet when the neighbors came in 1 a.m. Also on third night, some people were screaming and yelling outside the hallway at 3 a.m.

When we entered to the hotel we were greeted by a wide smiley from the front desk team. From the first impression to the last ,,goodby" everything went smoothly, perfect and we got more than we expected! Beautiful hotel in every details, the sleep quality was the best ever and the dinner.... We tried it for my boyfriends birthday and we couldnt find a better restaurant for that special occassion. Sea food, pasta, live cooking, sushi, different meats, salads .... long list, no end. The others said its far from everything, but to use the tram was lovely! Far means only a 15-20 minutes or less if you like walking and mix it with the tram, but the puclic transportation is easy, clean and fun too. Thank you for every members of the team who made our city break fantastic!! We'll definitely go back!!

Room Tip: From the 6th floor there was a beautiful view of the city!

Don't be put off by the look of the hotel from the outside or the location not being right in the centre of Amsterdam. I was impressed with what we got for our money - decent sized room, good facilities & really clean. Don't let the surrounding roads put you off either - still a very quiet place to stay. The rooms are equipped with coffee-making machines, a mini bar, a hairdryer, plenty of sockets (even a UK voltage socket!) 2 USB sockets, liquid hand-wash plus shower gel, also miniatures of shower gel, body lotion & shampoo if you do forget yours. The shower is lovely & big with the choice of using a fixed-position overhead shower head or a handheld moveable shower attachment (this info is probably more important to the ladies for when we're washing our hair etc...) Bed - typical continental-type of 2 singles creating a double - very comfortable. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be warm enough as the duvet seemed very thin but it was obviously decent quality as it kept me nice & snug but you also control your own heating/air-con in the room. TV with lots of channels including BBC & other English speaking channels if you do want them. Fantastic free WiFi connection - never once did I have any problems with it in any part of the hotel. Plenty of storage space, a safe in the wardrobe that is easy to use (choose you're own 6 digit code). The only thing that some people might find irritating are the lights on the key card panel & the heating/air-con control as they're a bit bright in the dark but I covered them with a bit of cardboard overnight & they were fine (so you might want to take a bit of cardboard & a small roll of sellotape...small price to pay for what is an otherwise lovely room). The breakfast might seem a bit pricey (15 euros if I remember rightly...) but I have never seen a breakfast selection like it - amazing choice!!! We ate a hearty breakfast each morning & found we then didn't need to eat anything much until our evening meal, so it actually saved us money. Tram 12 (stop is just across the road from the hotel) takes you into Amsterdam & also connects with lots of other tram routes. In the opposite direction it also takes you to Sloterdijk where the trains run to & from Schiphol Airport - not far at all & much cheaper than a taxi. We bought a 72-hour ticket from the hotel reception, which was good value for money & runs for 72 hours from the time you purchase it. The trams run pretty frequently & also till late in the evening. Just remember to scan your ticket when you get on & off the trams. There is also a secure luggage store room, where you can leave your cases when you check-out if your flight isn't until later in the day. Really pleased we chose this hotel - all the staff spoke English & were very friendly & helpful.

Room Tip: We were on the 5th floor & had very little traffic noise.

We have just had a recent visit as a family to the Golden Tulip. We stayed from 13th March 2014 to 16th March.

We for those of you who put the travel instructions from Schiopol Airport using the train and the trams it was spot on. You can get lost on those directions, The hotel I agree looks a bit drab from outside but once your inside its amazing. We got checked in early. I would say the lady who checke dus in was very informative but later in the day when we spoke to Nick he was brillant. Very knowledge and advised us the best way to get about albeit we have been befoe but was a while ago. To get ot Dam Square it 2 trans No. 12 & No. 14 so you cant get lost. Our room was amazing and spacious. The breakfast was plentiful and had so much choice albeit my son likes porridge so we had to travel with our own little packs as this wasnt available lol.... We also had the buffett dinner on our last night as a treat, amazing so much choice and i eat like a queen. I would definately recommend staying at this hotel and the staff are nice. On checkout they did try and give me somebody else's bill to pay , which I challenged and realised was their error. I say the funny side. We booked as a package and flew with KLM from Leeds and Bradford Airport. All in all would definately return and we enjoyed the trip.

Room Tip: We had a nice triple room Room 124.

With no doubt, one of the best hotels we have ever been. The staff are really kind and they help us with all our doubts. Although they don`t speak spanish they tried to understand our "bad" english. Breakfast was the best we have had even comparing it with other hotels with more stars. Room is so big enough and so comfortable with lot of facilities (wifi, tv, coffee machine, hairdrier, big big shower, big big bed,..) and while sleeping the hotel and the surroundings are quite calm with no noises.
Besides, although the hotel is not in the centre of the town but it is easy to arrive there due the tram 12 stops at the main door and you can get leidseplein and museumplein (two of the most important squares of the town) in only 15 minutes. You can also get the centraal station in only 8 minutes (1 stop) or reach schipol airport in only 20 minutes (2 stops) because sloterdijk station is only 10 minutes walking from the hotel.
When we go back to Amsterdam we will return to this hotel.

Room Tip: We have seen in the emergency map of the hotel they are some "small" rooms but we haven`t...

The hotel is located in a modern building, new rooms decorated in a contemporary way. The hotel restaurant serves buffet dinners. Delicious food and great selection.
The rooms very clean and the staff nice and courteous. The only problem is the hotel is not in the city center.
