“Great value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

I visited this restaurant with my family to celebrate my brother's birthday. He loves steak so I was tasked with finding a restaurant which did a good steak but also other options as my mum doesn't eat meat. It also had to be good value for money. This restaurant ticked all those boxes. My parents had fish which they said was very good, myself and my brother had steak which was perfectly cooked, really tasty and tender. The food isn't anything fancy, just good food done well. It's a small restaurant so you need to book in advance for the weekend, the staff are very nice and friendly - they knew a lot about the menu. Compared to other restaurants in the area I found La Cacerola to be very good value for money as Amsterdam can be an expensive place to eat out.

Nice atmosphere with good food. A little pricey though. Not for vegetarians. Service is very friendly.

“Small and Intimate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

We had a lovely experience at this restaurant, but it was a shame that we were the only diners, however, we were quite early by European standards, and also it was not a weekend night. That said, the service was excellent and the menu was explained carefully. Wine was delicious and when the food arrived it was of a very good standard.
The menu wasn't too large, so it wasn't difficult to make choices, I am not a fan of enormous menus that make selecting the right thing harder.
I had the hake which was really nice.
An overall great restaurant, a little quirky, in a very old building, with a lovely waitress and clearly a very dedicated chef. Would recommend.

“real gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

This place is a very unique, pieceful and romantic, it's like a little time machine-restaurant.
The food is always a piece of art, and kept very simple. It doesn't want to be trendy, but it's up to date with the tastes and flavors inspired by cuisines of many cultures from all around the world. As far as the chef is a real "world citizen", lived in many places and travelled a lot, which is important by "learning". He combines this knowledge with highly sensibility, creativity in his cuisine.

Must try:)

Ps.: Due to the above mentioned reasons the restaurant is getting more and more popular, so the reservation at least one day in advance is recommended.

Willemijn B, Manager at Restaurant La Cacerola, responded to this review, October 4, 2013
La Cacerola and its team have read your review with great regret and surprise that you have had such an awful time in our restaurant. Every day the staff works very hard to achieve the highest possible guest satisfaction. For this reason, as you can probably imagine, your review hit us hard.

For us to get a better understanding off why you disliked la Cacerola so much, we would like to ask you some questions.

- Could you please specify the day you had dinner in la cacerola (date), with how many people, specific table and at what time?

- Which aspects off the meal you've had, would you specifically classify as tourist food?

- We take great pride in our service and the reactions we get about it. Were there any problems with the way you've been treated by the staff? Please give specifics about the staff working that night and in which way they added to your bad experience?

- What do you think would make La Cacerola, a more suitable place to have dinner?

We hope you'll find the the time to respond.

Thank you in advance.
