“A nice palce to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

An excellent place to stay within the budget. Very clean, new. Rooms are very clean too. Very conveniently located from the train station (walking 5 minutes). The breakfast was good. Free WiFi worked good without any problem. There are plenty of parking space around the hotel. Pleasant, friendly and helpful front desk service made the stay more enjoyable.

I chose this hotel since it was outside of Amsterdam’s core and it was a brand I trusted. This hotel save some money and provide a reasonable and cheaper place to park our rental car (we were touring from Brussels). The hotel is close to the rail and tramlines for our day trips into the city. The rooms are the small, compact but they were modern and clean. The free breakfast was excellent and there was free wifi. The staff spoke excellent English, were efficient, and polite. Overall, it was comfortable, easier, and cheaper than the other hotels I survey for the trip. It was worth the value I paid. Note: I travelled in January; I cannot vouch for the cost in the main tourist season.

Room Tip: All the rooms seem good. There is only 3 stories.

My wife and I have just returned from a weekend break in Amsterdam and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express (South). While we really enjoyed our stay, we probably wouldn't return here purely and simply because of its location.
Do not get me wrong; getting to and from the hotel was not a problem at all as the tram and metro stop was just across the road from the hotel but we would prefer next time to be in an area where we can walk to a restaurant in the evening and then have a stroll around afterwards. We were advised to buy a 72 hour tram/metro pass and really got the benefit of it as the tram network is impressive and very easy to use, just remember to check on and off and most importantly, buy a ticket, unlike one couple we saw who got hit with an "on the spot" fine of 30 euro for not having one.
The rooms were a decent size and spotlessly clean with everything that was needed including an impressive shower cubicle.
Looking at other reviews and going by our own experience, there is a problem with the room heating; we had difficulty in getting the room up to a comfortable temperature and another guest had to be supplied with an extra quilt as his room was so cold.
Breakfast was "continental" and more than adequate for our needs and the staff were absolutely superb, nothing was a problem and advice on getting in and out of the city was given freely and pleasantly.
Having said that, I must admit that every single person that we came into contact with and asked for advice or directions was the same; it really was a pleasure to talk to them.
We will definitely return to Amsterdam at some point, hopefully when the weather is a bit warmer but the cold is only to be expected in early March.

Room Tip: I think that any room is going to quiet as the hotel location is outside of the city centre in a mai...

We stayed here for 3 nights and paid 77 EUR per night. The standard double room was nicely decorated, just as the bathroom was. Everything seemed new or newly renovated. The bed was very comfortable, and the hotel was very quiet (no noise from the hallway or the other rooms).

Breakfast was nothing fancy, but had everything you needed to get you going. The staff was very observant, cleaned the tables fast and refilled on a regular basis.

The location of the hotel was also fine. Just 100 meter from the metro and tram, so it couldn't be easier to get to the city centre. The journey into the city was around 30 minutes.

I can highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely stay here next time we visit Amsterdam.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this hotel and would recommend to anyone. It was much nicer than the hotel we had previously stayed at in the city centre, and less than half the price. Rooms are great, breakfast and wifi is included, transport links are excellent, staff could not have been more helpful, and the quiet neighbourhood ensured a good night's sleep.
The hotel is extremely well served by public transport. There is a metro and tram stop almost directly outside the hotel with frequent services straight into town. Also cheap and easy to get to airport, took us 20 minutes. Big supermarket round the corner. Not so well served for restaurants, but easy enough to get into the city centre if you want to eat out. Close to Amsterdam forest, lovely for a nice walk. Ideal if you want a quieter location at an outstanding rate but still want easy access to the city.
The staff were amazing. We asked for more shower gel and it was delivered straight to our room within minutes. They let us check out at 4pm rather than 12pm for no extra charge so that we could rest before our flight. Their English was perfect and everyone was helpful and kind.
The rooms were shiny and new, and very comfortable. Slept very well both nights. Beautiful bathroom with huge shower. Was possible to open the window and the neighbourhood was lovely and quiet - slept so much better than in the city centre. Never heard any noise from the other rooms. Internet access was free, fast and didn't require any login - the best service I've had at any hotel. Choice of pillows. Overall, much better than you would expect for the price.
Considering that breakfast was also included in the room rate, we thought it was pretty good. Not the best hotel breakfast you'll ever have, but impressive considering that it is a budget hotel. Bread rolls, toast, wide choice of spreads, pastries, fresh fruit, juice and hot drinks, a few cereals, cheeses, eggs, meats, yoghurt, crackers and sweet breads.
Last but not least, some lovely finishing touches - fresh flowers in the reception and on the dining tables, local markets in the neighbourhood, discount flyers for local attractions in the lobby - everything about this hotel surpassed our expectations. We'd definitely stay here again.

We really liked the design and the loved the service. We took the bike package (what you are supposed in the NL) and got one additional bike for our 14 years old son. A'dam by bike was great. Rooms were very nice, pillows excellent and beds good (maybe a bit soft for my taste). The additional bed for our son was big. Main negative point was the heating. It takes several hours to heat up the place maybe due to the freezing weather. So I recommend to leave it on when you go out. We also loved the location, great public transport access (in front of hotel), very quiet and many shops in the neighbourhood! We also jsed the metro (tickets can be bought in the cigar shop close to the hotel). Fix the heating issue and we give a 5 next time!
