I stayed here while spending a weekend in Amsterdam while on a European business trip. I choose the HIE because of the lower rate that was offered versus other properties located closer to the city center. The rooms were simple, but very clean and the staff was very helpful with luggage storage, directions, etc. While the location is in a quieter area of Amsterdam, there is a street car just outside the front door, which will have you in the city center within 15-20 minutes, or you can stop at the Zuid train station and be at the airport in one stop.

Excellent and very friendly service from the extremely helpful staff in this new Hotel. (Opened June 2012). I stayed for a week in late November/December. Very quiet area, and rooms and corridors seem well soundproofed, so I was undisturbed at night. Everything is clean and sparkling, there was a modest but good breakfast selection (some may not like the pre-packaged element for cheeses and cold meats, but it means they are fresh) and there were breads and croissants as well as fruit, hard boiled eggs, yoghurt and cereals. I'm a tea man, but I'm told the machine-produced coffee was good. The machine actually broke down one morning, and so we used the alternative one at the modest hotel bar. The engineer was attending to the breakdown and had his laptop plugged in to it - no coffee without a computer it seems!

A number of guests took advantage of the Kosher breakfasts on offer too - useful if that is important to you.

My room had flat screen TV with various satellite & radio channels and the free Wi-Fi performed excellently for me. The rooms are also equipped with a kettle plus teabags, instant coffee and milk powder - terribly British really but a very welcome departure for a continental hotel - it saved me taking my travel kettle with me! If you want to get some food or drinks for yourself, the local Jumbo Supermarket (open until 22.00 weeknights) is just round the corner, and there are a number of small shops in the parade near it, as well as some market type stalls open in the daytimes with chocolates, cheeses and flowers.

Short of the trams and metro actually running through hotel reception, you could hardly be nearer to public transport - about 90 seconds to walk to the stop! (Van Boshuizenstaat - Metro 51 and tram Line 5 both direct from Centraal Station. From Schipol DONT go to Centraal though - there are 4 trains per hour at least to Amsterdam Zuid, then its just three stops on Metro 51 (direction Amstelveen). (There are lifts at Zuid for changing platforms). This way, Schipol Plaza to the Hotel in 30 minutes is entirely possible. Hotel to Dam Square is about 25 minutes on the tram Number 5, which runs every 10 minutes or so.

When arriving by tram or Metro, be at the back (Amsterdam City or North) end of the cars. Exit, turn right, walk to the end of the platform (back in the direction youve just come from), go down the very few steps, turn left, cross the road (and mind the cycle lane) and the Hotel is on the right hand side of the road about 150m in front of you. I only put this in because more than once I heard the staff on the telephone giving directions to people on their mobiles who had got off the tram but couldnt find the hotel!

Not been to a Holiday Inn for a couple of years, I was pleasantly surprised with this one, a short ride from Amsterdam Centraale station, faster way to reach is the train 51 or street tram No.5 which snakes along a different route, hotel is situated in a residential area and the airport is 15 mins by taxi, hotel staff was courteous, and bike for rent FOC for an hour, we rode to the amsterdam forest just a 10mins ride away, breakfast was simple, very good coffee machine, sealed ham, cheeses which was very hygienic and front desk even extended to us 5pm check out with no charge, our flight was at 9pm
for a relaxing and stay choose this hotel no regrets will definitely stay here again if I come amsterdam again

Location of hotel is very good just 10-15 km from Sciphool so taxi is not expensive. Infront of hotel is tram station which goes directly to city centar for less than 3€. Hotel is very cosy, clean, tidy and personel are very helpfull. Hotel is new (or renovated) so everything is great: bed, bathroom... Breakfast is great too, there was plenty of choice.

So, overall impression is: Excelent!!
