“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

Great location, wonderful hosts. Comfortable accommodations. The printed instructions made it easy to find this jewel of a B&B. No detail was overlooked. Marvelous breakfast, a great cafe next door and dozens of good restaurants very nearby. Hop on the tram and in a few minutes you are viewing the greatest art treasures in the world. In a word, Perfect

Room Tip: Buy a 3 day pass for the tram, cheaper that way

Due to a flight delay, we arrived at the Tulip for a midnight check-in. Chris welcomed us with a much appreciated bottle of white wine. He invited us in and made us feel right at home. We've never encountered such a gracious and welcoming host.

Loytje is the the hotel entertainer and the star of the establishment. We have fallen in love with him and would've liked to spend more time with him.

The rooms are beautifully designed but beware of the steep stairs. If you find it hard to cope with the typical Amsterdam staircase, this one won't be an easy ride, particularly if you've just returned from a visit to one of the nearby coffeeshops.

Just come back from a one night stay in the tulip of Amsterdam b&b , it is a little gem , absolutely fantastic . It's like home from home . Rooms lovely and clean and just love the complimentary wine and drinks / snacks in your room . The self service breakfast is great , there is everything you can think of from fresh fruit to cold meat and cheese . The owners Chris and David are really nice and couldn't do enough for you , it was like staying with old friends . We are already planning a longer stay in Amsterdam and will not consider staying anywhere else but tulip of amsterdam b&b . Really worth 5 stars .

Just back from a fabulous short-break, greatly enhanced by excellent accommodation at this fine establishment!
We were a group of 4 staying in the "back-house" which we effectively had to ourselves - it was quiet, private and quirky in a very, very nice way. The "back-house" consists of 3 floors; the ground floor being the breakfasting/kitchen area and the first and second floors each providing a large double bedroom.
It was a bit like having the run of your own townhouse with the friendly but unobtrusive help and advice of owners David and Chris available when needed. We especially enjoyed helping ourselves to a leisurely breakfast from the abundance of fresh quality ingredients available. The connivence of chocolate and alcohol treats was also well received!
For memorable accommodation with a difference this gets my vote!

This was our first trip to Amsterdam and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. We stayed in the studio room which was perfectly clean, well maintained, and well furnished. The swan shaped towels were the perfect touch and made us feel very welcome! The room was stocked with snacks, coffee, and bottled water, which was a wonderful surprise. The location was walking distance from the train station and near numerous restaurants and cafes near the red light district and Chinatown.
We met with David when we arrived and he was very helpful, accommodating, and showed us the numerous places to visit in Amsterdam, along with tips on the best ways to navigate.
When we return to Amsterdam, this is the only place we will stay and will highly recommend it to everyone!

It was a pleasure to stay in a traditional Dutch canal-side hotel rather than in one of the glitzy world-wide hotel chains. On arrival, David sat with us to run through the places of interest, all of which were easily walk-able from the Tulip. Then on to our room, spotlessly clean and traditionally furnished, where a bottle of wine awaited us. The well-stocked fridge would provide us with light breakfasts, along with ample coffee and tea making facilities.

Restaurants and bars were all around us, just minutes away.

On our last day, there was no rush to vacate the room, 11:30am being very convenient, and their left-luggage facilities allowed us to have that last few hours unencumbered by suitcases in the lovely city of Amsterdam.

Centraal Station is easily walkable, and then on to Schiphol.

We can't speak highly enough of the Tulip and its proprietors.

Having visited this B&B some years ago, it was a must to return and see the changes the new owners, David and Chris, have made. We received a very warm welcome from both David and Chris and the cat, Loytje, who spends most of his time snoozing in the window but gets up to receive guests! The rooms are clean a comfortable with all needs being catered for. The breakfast kitchen is well stocked and, it being winter when we visited, it felt warm, particularly with the clever addition of a 'digital' fire. There is a small patio where you can have a smoke. The B&B is in the Nieuwmarkt area of Amsterdam, one metro stop from Centraal Station or a 10 minute walk. As the name suggests, there is a small daily market and a full market, which is excellent, on Saturdays. There are a number of bars / restaurants in the square itself and lots of other restaurants within a short distance. Nieuwmarkt is on the edge of the red light district and China town, neither of which present a problem just a little added interest! A great place to stay.
