“Great hotel, fantastic location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2012

This really is a great hotel. The room was nice, the staff is friendly and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The location is fantastic! Right in the hart of Amsterdam. A hotel to remember!

Stayed here for 3 nights, thought it was good value for money, better than I was expecting it to be, the room was a good size and it was very clean! Some of our party were in another room which was up 4 very steep flights of stairs, there is no lift also. We stayed on ground floor, no issues with noise or anything during our stay. Staff on reception were friendly and helpful. I would say it is about 25 minute walk from the main attractions of amsterdam - red light district, dam square etc. but there are plently shops, bars and restaurants 5 minutes from the hotel also. There is a little complex about 2 minutes walk over the road from the hotel, hard rock cafe did great food and the irish pub next to it was good too. Taxi from the airport was about 45 euros.

Stayed for one night to go to a concert at the Paradiso music venue (just 2 minutes walk from the hotel). The staff were very helpful, the room was comfortable and clean. I would definitely stay there again.

A simple hotel in a great location. We stayed for 4 nights and had a great time. The stairs were steep but I would guess that most hotels in the area would have stairs like that. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was fine. I would stay there again next time I'm in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Ask about stairs if you are going to be taking heavy luggage, children etc.

Got back yesterday after 2 nights at the hotel. Stayed in room 202 at the front of the hotel. We arrived before check in time and the lady at the reception kindly let us leave our bags whilst we went sight seeing. The other 3 members of staff we met at reception were equally friendly and helpful.

On the plus side this hotel is in a great location for the museums, restaurants and bars. The room was clean and tidy and reasonably spacious with plenty of wardrobe space and a hairdryer. It was -10 outside but the room was very warm, infact too warm for my partner. There was plenty of hot water in the shower which had good pressure. We had breakfast on both mornings which worked out at 5 euros per breakfast. If you only had breakfast on one morning it is more expensive. The breakfast was a cold buffet with meats, cheeses, smoked salmon, bread, hard boiled eggs, toast , fruit juice, fruit, tea and coffee. For the price it was a perfectly acceptable start to the day.

On the down side, the staircase upto the rooms is very steep, but only what you would expect in the small hotels in Amsterdam. The bathroom floor is marble and was very cold and no bath mat was provided.

I welcome addition would have been a tea/coffee making facilities in the room. This was our first visit to the hotel and we would certainly stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front, try to avoid the basement rooms

I stayed for 1 night with two other persons in a triple room in the 3rd floor.the receptionist was friendly and helpful.the rooms on the one hand suffered a lack of space but on the other hand, they were tidy clean and with a direct view to the road. However some weaknesses concerning the rooms which have to be mentioned are the inadequate sound insulation and cold wind that came through the windows during the night. Honestly the greatest advantage of this hotel was its location very close to leidseplein which make it a good starting point for someone who want to explore the magnificent centre of amsterdam. I cannot hold an opinion about their breakfast but i do remember that we preferred not to opt for it they let us know that we have t pay an extra fee beyond the 110 euro of our room's price. To sum up, it proved to be a fair choice for our short accomodation.
