We always like to see flea markets or traditional city markets wherever we go. On the famous lonely planet guide the Cuyp market along with the waterloplein market is described as a must and a very nice typical market, flea market.
Well we visited every market (3) suggested on the guide as a must and everyone has been a let-down. We expected nice, antiques or very typical flea market. what we found were plain boring immigrant market, where you find everything but antiques. very disappointing.
Therefore I do not suggest this market nor the other ones.
If you wanna see some antiques or very nice little traditional stores you better go to the negen straatjes, an area inside the jordan district where the streets and atmosphere are lovely and the shops are worth a visit even if you end up not buying anything.
They are not market or flea market, simply shops or antiques shops but well worth the visit and muuuch better than the cuyp or waterloo markets.
Only thing they're good for are the typical food shops, waffels, herring sandwiches and chicken skewers...if you really have to go just for them.
Anyhow, not suggested
