While this review is for a trip in 2003, this B&B still stands out as one of the best places we stayed in a trip that was full of great memories.
Our family of four (parents & two girls, 9 & 11) rented two rooms for four nights. The home is spotless and very nicely decorated. the breakfasts were excellent, even for my picky daughter. It was a two minute walk to the public transit that frequently passed through the neighbourhood on the way to the city centre, just 20 minutes away. We avoided having to park our car in town and could completely enjoy Amsterdam's sights.
While the hostess had told us that they were in a "suburb" of Amsterdam proper and that it was a quiet sleepy area, for us North Americans, it was really in the heart of the urban residential district and was really a quiet oasis perched on the edge of the main part of the old city. The distance to "downtown" was only a couple of kilometers and the bus (or bikes, if you like) are really the best way to get to and fro.
Our hosts were extremely helpful, providing any guidance we wanted during our stay. The rooms were perfect and there was a fridge at the guests' disposal so that lunches could be packed and stored if you liked. It was also good for keeping my beer cold for thevenings after supper.
It would be hard to imagine a better place to stay and with over 30 B&B stays during our various holidays, this one stands out in all the best ways.
