“Excellent boutique hotel in Amsterdam”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

We stayed at Seven one Seven in December and could not have had a more enjoyable visit. The staff was extremely helpful in booking restaurants and suggesting activities, and the room was both highly original and very comfortable. We had the very top of the hotel, which is not for those who cannot comfortably climb stairs, but, for us, it was splendid. Breakfasts are delicious. All in all, a lovely city hotel experience.

We stayed for 4 days just before Xmas 2013 - this is a wonderful boutique hotel with an unusual ambiance and luxury rooms. We stayed in the Von Goethe room - looks over the courtyard, quiet and secluded, very comfortable but almost at the top of the hotel - if you want less stairs then pick Shakespeare (first floor) or Tolkien (second floor) - or Schubert or Picasso for a room at the front overlooking the canal - it's a lot of steps up to the Room at the Top! Every room is unique and will not disappoint so make your choice based on how well you can cope with steep stairs and the view you prefer. Service is exceptional - the staff couldn't be more helpful and breakfast is good - be prepared to take your time as it is prepared to order but well worth the wait. As with all quality hotels in Amsterdam, this hotel is pricey but well worth it for the special experience - we did find the extras such as coffee and late night drinks/snacks to be good value for money. Certainly in the middle of winter the rooms are a great place to relax between a day spent walking around the city and a meal out in the evening.
The location is very convenient - on one of the main canals with good walking distance to almost all the city centre with a bonus proximity to the main tram that links the station to the outskirts of the city. We used the tram to get around quickly but we also walked to the Museum district, the main shops, the central station, the "red light" district, Dam Square, toured the canals and a top quality restaurant each evening.
Staying at Hotel Seven one Seven was a totally relaxing experience and after a number of short break trips to Amsterdam, staying in different four or five star hotels, we would always choose this hotel in the future - it's hard to think of any improvements that could be made - except maybe put a mirror carefully positioned in the room so I can plug my hairdrier in nearby and still look in a mirror to dry my hair - its really frustrating trying to dry and style ones hair with no idea what one is doing! - but for four days I still managed OK!!

charming place to spend a few nights in amsterdam. we had the schubert suite which is very spacious. the place is located very centrally and is therefore close to most attractions in town. staff is friendly and helpful and fulfils extra wishes like a late night coctail in the room. you can now argue price levels but thats a different story.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for three nights in late December. The location is perfect - the canal district is very central meaning you can walk everywhere, but quiet leading to a good nights sleep. The hotel feels more like an incredible home than a hotel. The decor is stunning. We stayed in the Mahler room - big room with a lovely big bathroom. Great restaurant recommendations from the staff. I would definitely stay here again.

It was back in 2012 that we stayed at this stunning hotel. But we had booked a junior suite with booking.com and our room as classed by the hotel was a deluxe room, much smaller and not as nice. Our deluxe room was amazing, but we had booked and paid for a junior suite, (the difference was clear as all rooms are named on the website stating which were deluxe and junior suites) we spoke to the man on reception and then he passed us on to the hotel manager. They refused to accept the difference, and blamed booking.com. After several emails to both parties, neither claimed that they were in the wrong both blaming each other. Fora very expensive hotel, I found it distressing that they were arguing with me. (Not what I expect for such 'an exclusive hotel'. ) I haven't long joined trip advisor and that it why the review has taken so long. Would I return? No.

Small and typical Amsterdam Townhouse on the charming Prinsengracht, whith an amazing interior design full of antiquities and art pieces - in every room! Very elegant but in the same time very cosy. The service its outstanding friendly. My stay in SChubert Suite was outstanding and I will definitely come back. A place to stay in Amsterdam!

The narrow, but high, house is full of antiques and artifacts. The style is cluttered high end chic. The suites are well appointed, a reasonable size (but our WC was uncomfortably small) and beautifully furnished. Breakfast was set, but plentiful and served in attractive suroundings. In winter the house was always warm. I understand why keys have to be handed in before one leaves the house (these are old doors, old locks and would be impossibkle to replace), but it is odd and relies on the door always being 'manned' - which, I have to say, it almost always was. The outstanding attribute for me was the staff - a group of, mostly, young men who were unfailingly courteous, attentive and keen to make sure everything worked and was well for you. Be it afternoon tea, booking restaurants, offering umbrelas or just chatting, they are to be commended for making their clients feel welcome. The location is ideal for a walk to the museums in one direction and the town centre in the other.

Room Tip: If you want a view of the canals do not choose the Frans Liszt suite. It is in the basement with eye...
