In room was dirty walls, dirty hand prints visible, short bed in room, room can not be ventilated because behind of the window smokes, uncomfortable, but Excellent location and for Amsterdam normal price.

Best location and good value for money. Breakfast included, right above McDonalds and super close to the main train station and centre. What you would expect from a budget hotel - nothing fancy. Linen and towels provided and washbasin in the room, although bathrooms are shared. Even had a few toiletries provided - eg: soap/shower gel which I didn't expect. Room rather hot, so you had to keep the window open. Guy at the desk polite and friendly. Access 24 hours.

Looking for very tatty & atrociously basic? You've got it.
The state of the place is pretty horrific even for a budget holiday.

The rooms are tiny, dirty and they smell of damp; all in all they pretty much consist of an old bed against the wall, an old sink and an old table and chair.
The common bathroom/shower room hasn't seen a decent renovation in the last 40 years.

Upsides? The location.. As it's very, very close to the main train station, which makes it very handy.

It may seem cheap comparing with other hotels, but don't waste your money! We only took the 3 rooms because we had no reservation, we were exhausted after a coach trip and couldn't be asked to look any further! ..Mistake!

Room Tip: ..For God's sake, avoid at all costs!!

Because most of the other hotels in central Amsterdam required a minimum number of two nights, we spontaneously decided to go for the Hotel Neutraal on Damrak, which - in retrospect - was one of the worst decisions taken. The concierge behind the reception counter appeared apathetically, yet indifferent while approaching the floor, as if he was not caring at all for his newly arriving guests. After photocopying my identity papers, the total cost for my double room was 120€ per night. The room itself was quite shabby, the rooms wallappers were almost separating from the walls, my linen had tiny blood drips on it, loads of open wires around the room, and a "bed" consisting of a single outworn mattress. Plus a constant undefinable smell in the room and hallways. The sanitary facilities had to be shared with the whole hallway, including WC and shower. The single window in the room gave prospet to a stone wall.

Room Tip: Dont go here under any circumstance.
