“Nice Location and clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2010

We arrived from flying all night and our room wasn't ready, but it was right at checkout time. We talked nice were in our room in 20 min. Small room with close twin beds, clean had hairdryer and essentials. Nice for one or two nights. We stayed one night before our cruise. Nice location, about two blocks to the right of Central Train Station. We walked to Anne Frank's house, flower market, red light district and some good restaurants. Canal boats are within walking distance, about 3 blocks. Very close to many sights.
Be aware there are steps to get up to the registration desk. Some nice people helped us with heavy luggage. Also steps to negotiate to get to elevator. Bell hop helped us with this. Remember European hotels have small elevators, small stairways, and small rooms. Air conditioned rooms, but only works for an hour at a time. Windows open, but we didn't try those.. Woke up periodically to reset AC. Breakfast included, cereal, cooked eggs, English breakfast and somewhat American too. Was enough to get us to lunch. Good price, great location and clean.

The Multatuli is in the perfect location right across the road from Centraal Station and a short 5 minute walk from Dam Square, Red light district, Madam Tussards. The rooms are spacious and very clean with comfortable beds. The hotel staff are really friendly and very accommodating the breakfast was lovely with a big choice. I will definitely go back to this hotel and will recommend it to friends

A friend and I stayed at this hotel and it was fantastic. Quite close to the main train station and the heart of the city center. The hotel has friendly staff. The room was small but perfectly clean. The beds were a bit too soft but comfortable. The room was also equipped with an air-conditioner which made it quite a pleasant stay. Can't think of anything negative to say about this hotel as we had a perfect stay there. This is, by far, the best hotel (for the price) that I stayed at in Amsterdam.

Honestly this hotel is perfect for exploring Amsterdam, its a no frills hotel, so do not expect 5 star luxury, but at this price, you shouldnt anyway!
VERY close to all great tourist attractions, bars, coffee shops and resturants all within short walking distance.
The hotel is very clean and well kept, yes its an old building that creeks and the walls are thin and the stairs are steep, but HELLO you are in Amsterdam and this is a typical Dutch building, its old and quriky and i liked it alot!!
The breakfast is fine, toast, cereals, fruits, bread, meats and cheese, as well as scrambled egg and bacon.
All in all i would highly recommend this hotel, i booked it with www.booking.com and it was a nice easy transaction.
The hotel is about a 15-20min ride from the airport, this will cost 40 Euros in a taxi any more than this and they are ripping you off (useful tip i found).
In regards to peoples comments about the staff, we found them fine, okay the recpetion staff were not very friendly but we just got the impression it was just a language barrier, and its not there fault we do not speak Dutch, we are in there country afterall !

Hope you have fun, we certainly did!!

We stayed for 4 nights in 4 person room, which was compact but fine. Breakfast is very good, Staff pleasant and helpful. Hotel clean and location just across from Centraal Station is a definite plus. Cost seemed good value for money in what we found was an expensive city . From our experience, we could only highly recommend this hotel.

i have been to amsterdam 3 times and would choose a luxury type hotel if i ever go back.i am not rich at all but amsterdam has a ton of what i call scam you..wreck your trip hotels. .this hotel is passable and everything was okay .i would never stay here again, in 8 days here nothing was to bad . the person cooking breakfast extras should not be doing that job. i am talking about bacon and scrambled eggs etc .they are horrendous undercooked. both times i asked for this they went straight to the garbage after tasting . but the hard boiled eggs ,bread, cold cuts and jam are good .be advised you cannot bring either breakfast or any other food into your room.this insures that if you ever want to eat in your room it has to be room service.what a scam....
...and do not ever stay at the -season star-its a few blocks away .that place not passable
in any way .lots of really really bad hotels in amsterdam pick a hotel with awesome reviews only!!!!!!!!!!!
