My husband and I spent 5 nights at Suite 259 and fell in love with the place. We had originally booked the smaller of the two rooms, only to be upgraded after our first night because it was vacant! Peter and Aziz are just lovely people and Aziz's breakfasts...WOW!!! My hubby and I are still salivating over the lemon chicken and Dal. This is such a lovely respite after a hard day of sightseeing. It may seem a bit out of the way at first...that was a concern of mine..BUT...there is a tram stop right outside (even though we never used it...the walking distances were just fine.) The park that is right around the corner makes a wonderful way to start out your day if you decide to stroll to the museums..or actually anywhere.
The beds were so comfortable, the hospitality so gracious, the hosts so interesting and the selection of DVD's so vast...there is no other place we'll stay when we return to Amsterdam. We got take out Thai food 4 of the 5 nights we were there and there was more than enough plates, glasses, silverware and little treats to round everything out. We didn't so any nightlife stuff (I think we're fuddy-duddy's....*sigh*) So excellent thai take-out and a couple of movies hit the spot. The larger of the two rooms has a wonderful Jacuzzi tub and the attention to detail makes a perfectionist like myself almost giddy. No need to lug a hairdryer, the ones they provide are better than the one I have at home. I have issues sleeping and I zonked out everynight. I really don't have enough good things to say about this place. We stayed in several places on our trip though the NL's and Belgium (The Amigo in Brussels, Hotel de Orangerie in Brugge)...and this was hands down..our favorite. There is no nickel and diming here, you're greeted with a lovely array of goodies and beverages and the hosts are just such engaging and lovely people. Yes...I'm gushing but I can't find a reason not to. The one night we were in the "smaller" room at the front, I didn't find noise to be an issue. Once the drapes were closed it seemed fine to us. Overall, we're already making plans to return...just remember to book early.
