My husdband surprised me with this awesome accomodation to celebrate my birthday. Upon arriving at suite 259 I felt a wave of excitement, especially after meeting our gracious host, Peter, and our other host Aziz, chef extrodinaire. Climbing up the stairs to the first floor I had the overwhelming feeling that we were in for a great experience. Our room was fantastic: tastefully decorated in a safari theme. We had our own computer including high speed internet, a TV with DVD player and extensive movie collection. There was a nice bottle of wine, an assortment of fruit, coffee and teas, snacks and cookies. The luxury of fluffy down comforters, robes, slippers, stocked refigerator (juices and water) were so delightful.
Peter and Aziz, as mentioned before were full of surprises...like scrumptous (tradional Dutch) birthday cake for breakfast (with candles, of course) ...bus cards, to get around town...AND, here's the clincher...I mentioned that I wished I could go to an art exhibit of a favorite artist that had a show opening in a few days - but we would miss the exhibit since we would gone...there was a private preview showing for members only.
We were sitting in our wonderful room when we heard a knock from Aziz. He told us to get dressed we were going to the ball - well not quite the ball but Aziz managed the impossible - tickets to the private showing, along with press kit and information on the show. Wow, what an enjoyable evening, and what a fantastic few days in Amsterdam- thanks to two wonderful, kind, generous and cool guys who really know the meaning of hospitality.

My wife and I and our two sons stayed in the Grand Sahara Suite at Suite 259 in Aug 2004 for 2 nights.

The phrase I would use to describe the suite is "attention to detail": Each room had fresh flowers, there were cookies, candy, drinks in the fridge, even a welcoming bottle of wine. Everything was meticulously clean, and we felt immediately at home. Peter and Aziz provided good advice on where to go, how to use the public transport, etc and the room was stocked with tourist books and guides (as well as magazines and books).

The breakfasts we had were beautifully prepared, delicious and very filling (we skipped lunch both days).

One word of advice - contact Peter before you arrive and ask about the best place to park (there's a parking lot very close that isn't immediately apparent).

Overall - worth every penny. Book it - you will not be disappointed.

Suite 259 is definitely the best B&B ( or hotel for that matter) that we have ever stayed in. All of the other reviews of this B&B are definitely true. We spent two night in the Safari Suite and five nights in the Grand Sahara and both suites were unbelievable. They were both beautifully decorated with stunning furniture and contained the best ammenities out there. Each suite has a computer with internet access as well as a flat screen tv (Grand Sahara has 2 tvs) with a collection of over 400 DVDs! The Grand Sahara has a private balcony that is surrounded by beautiful plants. Peter and Aziz are the best hosts who made sure that our stay there was very comfortable and went out of their way to help us out with any situation. We really enjoyed spending each morning with these two really great people. The breakfast each morning was unforgettable and would last us until mid-day. The location is also excellent, right outside of the crowded center but still walking distance to everything. We recommend Suite 259 to anyone who likes to be pampered and surrounded by the best of everything and we will definitely be back soon! Thanks Peter and Aziz!

Stayed in Sahara Suite spring, 2004. This is a great location, very clean, creative decorating and a well-equipped unit from the refrigerator stocked with snacks and drinks (no extra charge-not a minibar) to the computer with internet, movies, music. The private flower-filled terrace is lovely, too. We were 2 couples (good friends) and it was fine for us, but be aware there is visual privacy between the upstairs loft and the sofabed downstairs, but no walls. Peter and Aziz are lovely and very generous with their time and food; the tasty morning meals they called "breakfast" were actually enough food and variety to have served us for supper!

Having just spent a week at Suite 259 in the Safari Suite, I would say it was certainly the best B&B I've ever been to -- and well deserves the #1 ranking for Amsterdam hotels. From the moment we arrived to our taxi send-off to the airport, we had a feeling of being taken care of by old friends, and just being with Peter and Aziz was itself a lovely experience. They did all they could to make sure we had all we needed to be comfortable, and gave 100% each day in thinking of us... The breakfasts were top-quality, the room large and comfortable, and the location not too far and not too close to the downtown action -- and right next to a great Park. All in all, we would gladly return to Suite 259. Thank you again, Peter and Aziz!
