We just got back from a 2-week european trip. We stayed at suite 259 for 4 nights in september based on the great reviews and absolutely loved it! We got the tropical breakfast which consisted of a new yummy asian dish (rice, noodles, etc) and a special and fresh fruit salad. I still miss those breakfasts everyday! It's very nice to wake up in the morning and look forward to something new besides the usual breakfasts in hotels. The hosts Peter and Aziz were very considerate to ask if we had food restrictions, and also obliged with our request to have hard boiled eggs everyday for the baby as that is the only thing she is guaranteed to eat! That alone made our stay worthwhile, but there is more. The room itself and the service is amazing! Room was spotless, and had all the conveniences you can think of! My favorites are the freezer section in the fridge (for our baby's ice packs for milk--later on for frozen dinner we bought) which are rare in hotels, as well as free access to a computer in the room. Definitely very useful when we were jet-lagged or wanting to research trip info and not needing to go out of our room and line up and pay for using a computer. It was also great to have drinks in the fridge, snacks and fruits in our room for free! It was also great to have a microwave for us to heat up our food if we did not like to go out for dinner. The b&b is in a very nice area close to the center, walkable or very easy by tram--literally less than 5 minutes. The tram comes very often. It was great to be so close to the museums, and great restaurants! Much better than the ones in the center in quality and cost! A supermarket is a few blocks down so we can get milk for the baby, fruits she liked, etc easily. We were really happy to have been able to stay at this amsterdam house (which used to be an old canal house) and still have the luxuries of being in a hotel. We (even the baby) enjoyed the safari decor (life-size giraffes and other animals). If only I can find a similar place in every city, but if we ever go back to Amsterdam, we will be back! Peter and Aziz made our stay very special. Our baby was so happy staying there we felt sad to leave..Hopefully we can go back sometime soon!

We returned to Suite 259 recently after having previously visited in 2005. Our first experience was so enjoyable that we knew that if we ever returned to Amsterdam, a stay at Suite 259 would be essential.

We were hopeful that our second visit would be as memorable as our first. It surpassed our expectations. Peter was at the curb to greet us after a long and arduous delay on our Transavia flight from Malaga. He and Aziz greeted us like old friends and made us welcome. We felt like we had family in a foreign land after feeling like displaced persons during a 6 hour delay at the Malaga airport.

The breakfasts, as other reviews indicate, are outstanding. Each day we were presented with a new, delightful dish. However, my family and I agree that it was not just the amazing dishes, it was the amazing company of Peter and Aziz that made it so special.

Suite 259 may seem a little expensive versus some of the other B&Bs but there are numerous extras that make it an excellent value. Once again, I could not think of visiting Amsterdam and not staying at Suite 259. Both suites offer something special.

When we were leaving Suite 259 to go to the airport, Aziz was also going to the airport to deliver one of his exquisite wedding dresses in person to a niece in Indonesia, where he was attending her wedding. Hopefully that all went well and we look forward to hearing about it on our next visit.

One last thing, we were very happy with a Thai restaurant a few blocks away that was recommended by Aziz. The name is Sawadee Ka, at Overtoom 49. The food and service were both excellent. We went there twice, and on the last evening the manager gave us a bottle of wine to take back to Canada as a souvenir of Amsterdam.

We started our 5 week tour through Europe with a 4 night stay with Peter and Aziz at Suite 259. Perfect!. Comfy and lovely. Great neighborhood with easy access to anything you might want to do in Amsterdam, but away from the crush of the center. On the way home every night you pass wonderful local options for a dinner in the neighborhood. Suggestions from our hosts were all fantastic and reasonable priced.

Nothing beats breakfast made by Aziz! (Tip: ask for "tropical breakfast" and you will be treated to breakfast like you've never had it. Fantastic fresh fruits paired with a main course dish made up of Asian-fusion gorgeous delicious treats!)

Also...beds SO comfy...it really was the perfect place to land, get over jet lag, feel pampered and enjoy Amsterdam.

We'll be back!

We have just spent a wonderful 3 days with Peter & Aziz in Suite 259 Amsterdam.
This was our first OS trip and the beginning of a 7 week journey around Europe. Right from the very beginning, when email contact was made, Peter & Aziz were the utmost professionals.
I had many questions that were always answered promptly. On arrival we were greeted warmly and welcomed with cheerful smiles even at 8am in the morning!! As our room had been vacant the night before, we were able to freshen up and start exploring. immediately.
Aziz is a wonderful chef, who readily goes out of his way to please guests with some delicious fare. Peter has a wicked sense of humour and a knack of making you feel at home immediately.
Lastly, nothing was too much trouble for our hosts and we will return to Amsterdam just to experience their hospitality again.
Peter & Aziz thank you for making our first European encounter so much fun.

We returned to Suite 259 and our hosts Peter and Aziz in July, after 6 days in Paris. And while we had a great time in Paris, the whole time we were anticipating the return "home" to Suite 259. There is really nothing we can say that has not already been said. If you are going to Amsterdam and you want an extraordinary 5-star plus experience, Suite 259 is the place. The breakfasts are wonderful and can be exotic - Aziz brings an amazing fusion of Asian and other styles to the table. The rooms (we've stayed in both now) are more than rooms; they are the most cozy, comfortable lodgings we have ever had anywhere in the world. And the hospitality and service cannot be beat.

The dollar has collapsed, the costs of going to Europe for Americans like us have become extremely high. And many people have been looking to cut back if they go at all. Our advice though, is that if you have the chance to go to Amsterdam, GO! And if you go to Amsterdam there is nowhere else to stay but Suite 259. You may save a few dollars staying somewhere else, but honestly, you will be missing one of the world's very best B&B's. There's an old saying that applies - penny wise and pound foolish. Suite 259 is worth every penny you spend and then some!
