“Great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

We had a great time staying here in Amsterdam and we are frequent visitors to the city. Hotel is local to dam square and coffee shops. Slightly pricey compared to the others but clean and pleasant people. Breakfast not fantastic but have toast and cereal. Would recommend for short stay. Would not recommend for a non-smoker.

Visited with a friend on bank holiday weekend in August. Looking at trip advisor reviews, we knew we weren't expecting a swanky hotel. It had all the essentials and it is perfectly located. We walked/biked everywhere and never actually went on public transport. It's about 5/10 mins away from central station depending on how slow you walk. With our suitcases, we managed just fine.

Very close to Dam square, red light district and Damstraat has a lot of shops, coffee shops and restaurants. We got there early but we were still ok to leave our suitcases with them whilst our room was being prepared. The lady at the desk was lovely and very friendly.

Our room was small but still enough room for two girls getting ready to go out. There is a fan and a tv with english and danish freeview. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious and the shower was powerful but undetachable. Cleaners came in every morning to change towels, make bed and empty bins. There was always someone at the reception desk 24/7. The restaurant gives you 10% off your meal if you eat there. The breakfast is good with toast, spreads, cheese, cured meats, cereal, yoghurt, fruit and tea, coffee, etc.

All in all, great price, value for money and lovely staff. Ideal place to stay. Will stay here again when I return to Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a room facing Damstraat rather than one facing the back of the building

There is no air conditioning so it was hot in the room. Very noisy. No internet in 4th floor. The bed is awful. Very basic room. But - very clean and nice breakfast. At good location. Too expensive for what you get.
