“Awesome location, expensive small cozy room...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2011

Amsterdam is great, and fun place to visit, with a lot of tourist tours and activities. All the tours take off from the center of Amsterdam and if you go there for 3-4 days is convenient to book a hotel right there. Frisco inn is too close only 3-4 minutes walking distance from there. It has very steep and noisy stairs, small and clean rooms, very helpful staff, but expensive for what you get. We took it for granted the friendliness of the staff and the convenience of the location, but we did not expect such a small room for 80 euros /night.....,but what do you expect for a hotel near the action!!

Frisco is a fab location, clean, and has the nicest staff on reception / the bar ever. Yes the stairs are steep and yes it is a little noisy but it's a great place to experience Amsterdam at it's best (and worst!!! ) we were a party of four and all agreed we would use this hotel again

Amsterdam is a great, fun place to visit and if you are going for 1-2 days, then it is better to be centrally located than far from all the fun!

Frisco Inn is very central, next to all the coffeeshops and the canal next to the train station. The Red Light District is 4 blocks away, crossing the canals and all the ferry rides are about a block away. I will agree with some of the reviewers that the hotel can get very noisy due to its location. We did, however, stay in a room with a window overlooking the main street, so it was kind of expected.

The people at the front desk are very easy going (we missed the checkout by two hours and they did not charge us extra, despite the busy season) and they were very accomodating. They've got a great little bar and will sit and drink with you as well.

August is one of Amsterdam's busiest seasons- so we paid 95 euros a night (did not include breakfast). And the price was good, considering some hotels were going for 300-400 euros a night.

Word the wise- the stairs are very very steep (so if you've got a broken leg or have problems climbing up places, someone is going to have to literally carry you up because their elevators are non-existant).

The place is very clean and the bed was pretty comfortable (which can be tricky to find in Europe at times).

Room Tip: Request one on the first floor, unless you want to climb your way to the top.

We stayed for 3 nights, and on booking got a fair price of 70 euros a night, which we were happy with, paying the bill on arrival, price had gone up to 100 euros a night. we were told taxes, but 30 euros a nght in taxes, should be mentioned when booking.
great staff on reception, couldnt do enough to help. we had a front room, which was very very noisey all night long, rooms are clean, location excellent...
Stairs very steep and no lifts..
Outside were a few tables, which seem to attract every cannabis smoker from amsterdam,so you can imagine the smell in the room.

We paid £325.00 for 3 night stay this included the city tax at 5%, firstly all the staff were
fantastic very helpful and couldn't do enough to help with info and times etc they were great.

The stairs are extremley steep in the hotel, we were in room 8 at the back, it was small but clean, but the down side was the smell it was dreadful the weather was bad so didn't have a problem with heat, our window was facing an apartment about 2-3 foot away and they opened the appartment window and played music the first night all night, the 2nd night it started at 4am and the 3rd night they played it all night again, it was dreadful and very very loud, I don't usually have a problem with noise but believe me it was so bad we had to complain but there was little they could do, so would advise requesting a room at the front or you need some ear plugs.

We stayed for 3 nights in July 2011, Great location for everything, stairs are great fun. we had room at at the back overlooking a noisey bedsit with a stereo on the window ledge. After a few visits to the local coffee shops the noise from the bedsit was not a problem!

Yes the room was small but it was clean

Amsterdam is expensive we paid €110 a night for this hotel in amsterdam supposed to be good value but no better than a £29 a night travel lodge.
