“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago via mobile

Great hotel, friendly staff and good location. Everything is within 10-15 mins walk. I visited Amsterdam on a 30th birthday with 8 other lads so we had a room of 4 and a 5. Rooms are big and the beds are very comfy. There is a night club to the side of the annexe which you can hear the vibrations but it isn't too bad. The staff were also happy to print our football tickets and boarding passes for us.

Overall we had a great time and would definitely stay at this hotel again. Thanks for a great stay!

The Hotel Amstelzicht is a charming small hotel. The hotel entrance is quite modern, but don’t be misled. Unfortunately, the rooms do not have the same décor. The hotel has no elevator and the stairs are really steep (if you have mobility problems, think twice). But again, this should be a problem with most hotels in Amsterdam. They call this “Amsterdam stairs” for a reason. The room is quite simple. Nothing luxury, but acceptable. It’s near the flower market and only 5-10 minutes from the center. A good option for price-location. Ask for the map in the reception. They have a really good map of Amsterdam which is really helpful.

Dear MadeinBrasil,

First of all we would like to thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to write this review about Hotel Amstelzicht.

As you wrote ; we are located at the centre of Amsterdam and the most of the touristic places are on walking distance.

Because we are an historical building, built in 1659 we are not allowed to offer an elevator or make any other changes, but I think we are really clear about this on all booking sites.

We hope that you will consider staying with us again on your next visit to Amsterdam! Please do not hesitate to visit our website or contact us for any special offers.

Best regards,

Hotel Amstelzicht

Dirty room. Rude staff...and don't believe the management comments here that you should "let them know so they can change your room"...because if you do, the manager will say rude things to you in front of your young children. They will also argue with you about whether the room is actually clean or noisy. The other poor comments are totally accurate. The rooms are dirty and it is noisy. Stay somewhere else. Darn shame since the location is great...but I would rather be a worse location than endure management at this place. Very disappointed.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.... If the management changes, maybe it will improve. They are extremely rude.

Enjoyable stay in a good apartment hotel in a great location just fronting a canal with Rembrandtsplein just behind. Points to note..
Nice and clean/Good facilities/
It's not cheap for a canal view but worth the money/Polite and helpful reception reflective of the Dutch in general/Stairs are very steep indeed but I imagine all canal properties are the same as they built them tall thin and deep to avoid width tax!. So if you are elderly or disabled you should check facilities or other venues/Keep shutters closed of you can or take mosquito cream or repellant, we got bitten badly first night, would not think it in Amaterdam but I guess being near so much standing water there will be mozzies.

All in all good well run place and very central to launch your Amsterdam tour from.

Ps. If you get stoned watch the stairs!

I was given a room in a basement/downstairs room. Room was spacious and location was great but that are the only two good points.

Room was carpeted and had a strong mouldy scent and was sticky at some parts . Pillow was the same and used the some towels to cover the pillow before I could sleep on it.

Just outside the window there was a lot of noise maybe back door of a shop restaurant. Didnt sleep all night.

Would not reccomend it. Location is good but I would rather pay more and have a decent nights rest at a location a bit further away from the centrum

Dear Cecee J,

Thank you for your review here on tripadvisor. We take your comments very seriously, as you can see in other reviews we never have any issues with the cleanest of our rooms, and we are very proud about that. The basic of a good hotel is cleanest, good beds and friendly staff. Together with the Housekeeping Manager we have inspected the room that you stayed, and we couldn’t find any sticky carpet as you have mentioned in your review , as well the linen in the Hotel new linen from last August) is clean and fresh.
Regarding the noise, and also the issue above, we wish you had contacted the reception immediately, we don’t see any history that you did so, as we could change you experience, for example by explaining you to simple close the electric shutters during the night in your room, which for 80% reduce any noise from outside. As well we could have spoken with the people who are making the noise, or even changed your room to another floor. In this case we were aware of your comments, and could deliver you a perfect stay in Amsterdam, as I’m sure we could! Still we hope to welcome you another time to our Hotel, best regards, Hotel Amstelzicht

The place was exactly what we were wanting. It was a great location, quiet, spacious for my family of 4 and clean. I thought we were all going to break our neck getting to the room or out of the hotel each time we entered/left but that was the main drawback. We chopped it up to "character" and bit our lips each time we ventured up/down but thoroughly enjoyed the place. Note: there is not much nearby from which to buy snacks or pastries/bread. The hotel itself does not have a restaurant but with a little planning, it is not an issue.
