4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

recently stayed at the de koopermoolen hotel its not a 5 star hotel but it was ideally suitated to travel around amsterdam bed was well big and well comfy. a 5 minute walk from central station hotel staff on the front desk were well helpful. if you wanted to try something different go on the pancake boat a 75minute cruise and you can eat as many pancakes as your belly will allow with loads of different toppings directions to it are do into central station to your far left you will see the ticket office just before take a left follow the shops in the station down to the end to the back of the station cross road you will see 4 boat terminals you want the last one you cant walk any further it will say NDSM WERF the boats is free over to the other side about a 12 minute journey when you get off you will see pan cake boat directly to your right. you catch the same boat back it will say central station also if you like cocktails give the house of bowls a try good place to spend a couple of hours tram no 2 or 5 will take you there a get yourself a 12 or 24 hour tram pass it works out alot cheaper you can just hop on and off any tram.

its just a basic hotel that offers cheap basic rooms in a very good location of amsterdam. the reception staff were really friendly and helpful. the room itself was ample for a one night stay. i would stay again

This hotel was a brilliant base for exploring the city.
Only downside was that our room was right at the top and it was quite warm which with no air-con made it difficult to sleep.
Good breakfast-in another hotel during the week.

Positive:
Location right in the middle of nightlife

negative
very run down - this is not a "hotel" more like a run down bed and breakfast
Extremely expensive compared to other hotels/flat rentals
Early check out by 10.00 am or you will be charged

We arrived on the 30th May for 3 nights, it's only about 3 min walk from Central Station (behind big church). Check in was straight forward and quick and receptionist was very helpful, we paid for a safe to keep passports and cash in which was €5 per day. The stairway to room is very steep but this is the case everywhere in Amsterdam and it does have a lift. Our room was at the front of the hotel and although it was small it was spotlessly clean with good sized wardrobe for clothes. Bathroom had shower cubicle which was also really clean. The rooms don't have double glazing so can be a bit noisy but this is a very busy street so to be expected. All in all we would definitely return as couldn't get a better location, good staff and hotel was clean.
