We stayed here for a few nights and found it to be fine. Great location, walking distance to everything. Basic but clean room and bathroom - expected size for the cheap price. Clean towels everyday. I'd recommend to stay here if you're on a budget and spend minimal time in your room!

If filth and terror are your idea of a good time then the orange tulip is the joint for you, everyone else avoid like the plague!
This is without a doubt the worst place that we have ever stayed. To be fair we knew for the price we paid that it would be basic but this was tragic. The only reason we stayed was because it was only for one night and it was a good location.
Mattresses were covered in damp, sheets had holes in them and pubic hair on them, graffiti on walls/ beds/ floors/ mattresses. Dirty floors, stink in the hall and lift plus gentleman juice on the lift floor.
We were awoken in the morning to thundering crashes every 20 secs thinking the building was being knocked down around us by a wrecking ball(no surprise if it was) we then got out of there asap in one piece.
The only reason we gave it one star was the location this place should be closed down immediately.
Please do not stay here you'll regret it! Take a tent!

Unless all bad reviews about this hotel we booked a room for 3 nights. We were quite scared from all comments on tripadvisor but surprisingly the room was clean enough and the bathroom as well so that we did not have any of the problems mentioned on this website! The cleaners came every morning to clean the room and to change the towels. However, we did not stay in the building where the reception was but they sent us in another building just two doors after. The lift was always working. The location is great, just on dam square where most of the attractions are. Overall a good experience in the tulip orange hotel!

only positive point, the receptionist who seems nice ...but when we arrived he told us that it was better for us to go to a sister hotel cos our room was bad, smelly ......we didnt really had time so we said ok, it sounds better ...lets go !
lets put it like that : this hotel is that horrible that even the receptionist prefers to send customers somewhere else ....just add 20 e to ur budget and go to sleep in any other hotel , really cos even where we finally end up , the room was exceptionally bad, tiny, smelly, walls are papers thin, the floor of the bathroom black of dirt ...you know this color u find in bars at the end of the night ? you really dont want to see that in a hotel u pay 100e the night

or pay for a hostel, it will be better for sure !

JUST AVOID THIS HOTEL , ITS RUBBISH

Room Tip: There are no good rooms , tourist trap for people who goes to amsterdam one time and never come bac...

Me and my 3 friends stayed here for a 3 night break.
When we arrived, the lady, who spoke barely any English was adamant we did not have a reservation (even though we had the confirmation email printed off and proof of a deposit paid) she eventually gave us a room, but we had to wait hours so we had to leave our suitcases in an unlocked very public room where anyone could of took them...

The rooms were very cold, damp and dingy... The stairs were very steep and the lift was constantly out of order. The bathroom was also not nice.

However, this is located perfectly for people coming just for the "coffee shops" as it is literally across the road from Dam Square, so that was great for us as...

But that doesn't make up for the poor service and horrible room conditions...

On the way back through customs, my friends suitcase was searched and traces of heroine came up on her toothbrush, (she obviously has not ever taken it) and the customs officer said it was from her leaving her toothbrush on the side in the bathroom of the hotel... Which isn't very promising and was very scary...

Stayed here with two friends for a four day trip in Amsterdam. Three twin beds with no space between them, filthy pillows and beds. My two friends got bed bug bites, I was lucky I was not bitten. Very expensive for what it is. Will not recommend this hotel.
