“Wonderful hotel, staff, and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2011

This was our, I don't remember how many times, stay at Hotel Brouwer. We've been there 12-15 times probably. This time we were in the Mondriaan room on the 3rd (top) floor for 3 nights. The hotel is in a wonderful location right on the Singel canal. The staff are super friendly. The room is large with a large bathroom as well. We had a few minor inconveniences this time (trash not emptied, foot towel for shower not replaced, toilet paper left empty) but these weren't enough to annoy us. We were able to get the TP replaced via reception (the others were minor enough). Breakfast is great with lots of bread, cheese, preserves, and a hard boiled egg if so desired. They've got a free Internet computer to use in the lobby and employees are quite knowledgeable about the city and it sites and facilities.

Hotel Brouwer seems to be overrated. It´s alright but not that good.
I stayed 3 nights in June in the single room called Hals
It´s right in the center of A´dam, near to shopping and nightlife. That´s the best.
But it´s very noisy all night long and the windows are thin.
The room was very small and the floor had settled at the corner, in fact I fell out of bed due to this the first night.
The breakfast is simple
I´ll remeber it but I wouldn´t stay there again.

This hotel is simple but for the price excellent... A real hidden gem.. Great location and price includes a very simple but nice breakfast. Staff are very helpful and price also includes free WiFi.. Highly recommend.

I stayed for 3 nights in a single room with private bathroom on the 2nd floor. 60 Euro included breakfast . It consisted of croissant, assortment of breads, jelly, butter , cheese and boiled egg. Coffee, tea and juice were also served. I had a great view of the canal which is for all the rooms there. It was centrally located , about 7 minutes walk to Central Station. Very easy direction from the website. There is also free usage of a computer with internet and printer.
This is a very popular place and you will need to book well in advanced. I booked mine 9 months in advance.
I love the hotel and staff so much as well as Amsterdam, i already booked for next year for the end of April for another attempt to see the Tulips and Queens Day Celebration. Unfortunately, I never had a chance to go to Keukonoff this time because all the tulips were already cut.

Room Tip: BOOK early

A great hotel, only a short walk from the railway station which means that you don’t have to drag cases on and off buses or trams, also it is very easy to find as its right on the Singel canal.
The hotel is only small but that is one of its many charms, with only 8 rooms you feel that you are staying with a family rather than in a faceless concrete monster. Our room was the Rembrandt room which is on the corner of the building giving views across and along the Singel canal. The breakfast was lovely and again felt more like home cooking than normal hotel blandness. The owners were very welcoming and would spend time talking to you and offering advice without it seeming false.
I would recommend this hotel for a great stay in Amsterdam but as others have said take cash as credit cards are not accepted. Also to book contact the hotel directly as I could not find them on any booking site.

After a week of searching online, I discovered this little gem nestled along the Singel canal. It’s very affordable, just 60€ + 5% tourist tax a night including breakfast for a single room. When I arrived, I was given a double room at the same rate which was a plus. I had an impressive view of the canal as well. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Service at this small hotel was personalised, warm and friendly. Just what you need, unlike one of those big chains like Ibis. Each of the rooms is named after a famous Dutch artist, mines was Van Gogh! The breakfast was more than adequate, a warm mini baguette, a croissant and a Dutch pancake. There was also a warm hard-boiled egg, jam/butter and coffee/tea/juice. Although there is no restaurant, breakfast is served in the reception area. It's more than adequate.

The manager was very helpful in giving advice and tips on things to see and do in the city. The location was a short 10 minute walk from the Centraal Station, which provides frequent rail links to Schiphol for 3.70€ one-way, 4.20€ if you use the ticket counter. There is also a free computer and printer for guest use in the lobby and free Wi-Fi throughout the property.

If you’re a single or a couple looking for a great place to stay at an affordable rate, Hotel Brouwer is it! Just one thing to note, they do NOT accept any credit cards, payment by cash only. Most definitely I shall return there on my next trip to Amsterdam.
