“Great location, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

I spent 3 nights here in september as a tourist. The double room (two single beds) was tiny with the beds almost next to each other and the door could not be opened fully. That said if you are sharing with a close friend as I was it was not a huge problem. The beds are very comfortable and there was good wifi and TV. There was also a kettle for making tea which was nice. Price was reasonable for amsterdam, we paid $150 a night.

The location was very good, close to the tram and only 5-10 minutes walk to several nice restaurants and cafes. Also well connected to tourist sites around town.

The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly especially the owner. They have a luggage storeroom which was handy since I arrived early in the morning when my room was not ready. (The only down side were some loud and inconsiderate tourists who were up till 3 am and making a lot of noise on the saturday night.)

I would stay here again.

stayed at this place while I was moving out of amsterdam last month. i had 3 cats and about 7 suitcases. these folks were so friendly and helpful despite how annoying a customer i was.
also, location is perfect, right on a canal. quiet street.

make sure you get the canal view however as the other side is not as nice. also, note that the rooms are old and a bit beat up,but for the price I assure you that you cannot do better in AMS.

Room Tip: canal view is essential

The location was amazing! Being a walking City, the hotel was close to everything. The staff was really friendly and very helpful. The room though was small (I booked a Standard Room---no Canal view--so not sure what the other rooms are like) and needed to be renovated. Room was very clean! The bed was really comfortable and the breakfast was good (a bit steep in price though 12 Euro) I would stay again but invest in getting a room that faced the Canal.

Room Tip: Although the room was soooooo small, it was really quiet at night because it faced the back of the h...

We stayed three nights at this charming small hotel overlooking a main canal.....the only drawback there being, on a Saturday night the noise from revelers at nearby bars (across the bridge in Rembrandtsplein) continued into the wee hours...and beyond (this could have had something to do with Holland playing in the Euro Cup that night!) Gabrielle was there to meet us our first evening, and she was a welcome presence at the end of our journey. Our 4th floor room under the eaves was cozy (if one of us was standing up, the other had to crawl across the bed to get around) but sufficiently comfortable and clean. The breakfast in the lovely library/sitting room/dining room was a perfect mix of healthful yogurts, fruit and muesli, a variety of meats, cheeses and breads (amazing warm croissants), and freshly brewed-by-the-cup coffee, tea or espresso. We hadn't realized breakfast was only included the first day, and spent Sunday morning in search of a good breakfast off-site, but were thwarted in our attempts (traveling for blocks in search of Sara's Pancakes or the Pancake Bakery, only to find them closed!) Our last morning, we paid the 12.50 Euro pp and stayed put! From hopping on trams, getting to Riksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, Central Station, Jordaan neighborhood, markets, restaurants and bars---all were very easy to navigate from our location at Hotel Eureka/Amsterdam House Hotel. We discovered only the night before departure the canal behind the hotel, which offers a picaresque and quiet setting for strolling or having a glass of wine al-fresco. We would definitely stay here again, though perhaps not on a Saturday night during football season.

We booked four standard rooms for the four couples in our group for three nights in June 2012. The beds were very comfortable. The location near Rembrandt Square was good. Beyond that it was a bit disappointing. The rooms were so tiny that our luggage barely fit, although it did make the rooms we had on our subsequent cruise seem pretty spacious. The rooms were also a bit shoddy. We only got one free breakfast and we would have paid 12 Euros per person for the other two days but we went elsewhere for breakfast and paid about 8 Eurors each. We would not stay here again.

I stayed here with my two kids and we all loved it. Our visit to Amsterdam wouldn't have been the same without staying here.

Hotel Eureka has a kind of soul and charm that other hotels could only wish for.
