“Good budget choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

Nice quiet location, easily walkable to any attractions. Liked the free drinks in reception and the room was clean. Bed small but we knew that from booking information. Helpful staff on reception. Negative was that hallway smelt of smoke.

Nice hotel that catered for a "family" of 5. Max of 20 mins walk to most places. Use of kitchen facilites downstairs (tea/coffe machine, microwave, kettle, etc. Friendly staff. Would recommend if looking for convenience rather than luxury. I would stay again if travelling with a group.

I had to find accommodation somewhere close to where my friends lived/stayed. The hotel was only two stops away from Centraal on a tube. Trams are nearby and it is easy to move around in the city.

As many people have mentioned the stairs could be a problem, but luckily I had no suitcase. I was okay. As almost any accommodation in Amsterdam in this price range, the room I stayed was very small, but that is Amsterdam. The distance between the shower and the toilet really reminded me of that.

Good points: location, wi-fi, free drinks, view from the window, possibility to leave luggage and very hot water in the shower.
Bad points: not too hot during the night, mould in the bathroom due to poor ventilation (use tea tree oil to kills it), steep stairs, small room - it would be hard for two people to stay in there.
I've stayed at the 5th floor, but noticed that rooms up to the 3rd floor are bigger.

We stayed there for 3 days. Friendly staff, great free beverage, good location, great wi-fi sinal, ok price.
The only problem was the stairs! No lift, just stairs for us 3 and 4 bags! It was hard, but didn't compromised our experience!
Oh, the walls were too thin, everytime someone knocked on a door i would answer our door cause it sounds like someone is knocking on you door, little scary... hahahaha
Good place to stay! will surely recommend it!

Room Tip: Make sure all the lamps are working!

English speaking staff only.
We had a large double overlooking canal and Hermitage.
Windows are single glass and walls are cardboard so bring earplugs.
Queensize Bed was very uncomfortable.
Bathroom reaked of cigarette smoke.
Children slept in a triple room. 3 beds cramped inside, an't fully open window. Entire room reaked of cigarette smoke.
Taking a shower requires acrobatic skills to manoever.

All in all hotel is very central, rather clean and in a safe location but I wouldn't recommend it for extended stays. Price is fair soo you get what you pay for.

Room Tip: 403 adaquate for 2 large double but rather small uncomphy queensize bed. Ceiling is on.y 2 metres hi...

The hotel was fairly decent, our large double room on the 3rd level had a nice outlook, was clean and as the name suggested generously sized. Close to the hermitage museum the hotel is also within walking reach of the centrum. I would recommend the large double on the 3rd level. We were initially put into a room on the 1st level but requested to move and were able to do so.

I would have given 4 stars but the only complaint we had was the confusion over the breakfast. Just to point it out on the Hotel Hermitage website, English version, under reservations is states when booking a large double room for 3 or more nights you will receive a one time free breakfast. We mentioned this to the receptionist who wasn't sure who then contacted the manager. He responded that no breakfast is ever given free?? Perhaps they are not aware it says this or it might be a translation error. Strange. The breakfast we paid for each day though was good, with a great coffee machine and friendly kitchen cat.

Overall a nice place to stay and recommended.

Room Tip: Large double 3rd level
