“Young and modern”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

We were six students who looked for a cheap accommodation in Amsterdam so the Meininger hotel was a great choice for us. The atmosphere is young, the hotel is very modern and close to transportation. I must say that although the hotel was full of young people, I didn't hear any noise in my room. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and willing to help. I'll probably will come back if I'll look for a cheap accommodation.

Very very expensive for what is basically a hostel but sold as a hotel. Over £200 for two very small cabin rooms for one night only. None of what you would expect from a hotel. No phone in room, no kettle or refreshments, and very little room to manoeuvre. The situation is perfect next to the Sloderdijk station, but for what the night cost, one would have expected much more.

Throughly enjoyed my stay here! It has everything that you would need while on holiday. Room was spacious with 2 single beds and a double decker. Would prefer to have the toilet and shower area was combined but being separated has its benefits.

Lobby was spacious and can hold big groups for discussion or to eat. Managed to use the washing machine and dryer, also stored food in the common fridge and even played giant chess outside the hotel.

Noise level was acceptable, could sleep soundly at night. Location wise, was only 10 mins from Centraal, so it was a wonderful base for our trip, plus you get the peace and quietness at night. Safe environment too!

Super friendly staffs, always willing to help. Overall, this place is perfect for friends, family and solo travellers.

Nice modern hotel but full of teenagers who unfortunately run riot around the hotel. Party rooms & kids knocking on doors.
Shame as hotel is clean and functional but I'll stay elsewhere next time
However the rooms are big and have everything you need, great business location just too noisy from the guests.

Great hotel, very young visitors, friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend this. Only a 5-minute train ride away from Amsterdam city centre. Breakfast was too crowdy and not enjoyable, but very cheap. Next to Amsterdam Sloterdijk railstation, perfectly isolated so no noise pollution. all in all a great experience. Also a big plus on the wifi!

On Thursday our friend suggested a weekend away in Amsterdam, arriving on Friday. We booked this place because it was one of the last decent & affordable accommodations that we could find, but I was found it to be a great place to stay.

Being built last year, the property is still is excellent condition. Being a friday afternoon at check in time, it was incredinly busy when we arrived and most of the staff were new, so it took a while to check it, but it was understandable. We had booked a three bed room, but when we arrived they said they had two rooms for us instead. However as we were one couple and one single this actually worked out very well for us.

Our room was small, but lovely. Two single beds pushed together (very common) but with a couch & TV, small wardrobe & exceptionally clean bathroom. Our room was facing the train station, but we could not hear a thing.

We opted to pay for the breakfast, which was a good spread of breads, meats & cheeses, cereals, fruit and yoghurt, plus juices, tea and coffee. Well worth the €5.90.

The facilities in the hotel were excellent; a large dining hall & bar, plus childrens play area & more formal seating. There were also games scattered around (such as connect 4 & jenga), and the outside areas were kept in good condition.

Although not directly in the city, it was very easy to get to the city by train, which is just around the corner from the hotel. As we used to carpark behind the hotel, we got free train tickets when we paid for parking. The next stop is the City stop, so it only takes about 5 minutes to get in to the city. The hotel itself seems to be located in a industrial area, so there is not much around, but we hired some bikes and there were some good bike tracks around and one that went in to the city.

As we had booked the day before, and it was a weekend in Amsterdam, we probably paid a little more, however was well worth the price.

If I was in Amsterdam again, I would probably stay here again and highly recommend it.

I had been in Holland for 4 days 3 nights and stayed in this hotel. It's very closed to the station and reasonable price. The staffs were very friendly and all necessary stuffs are in your room!
And if you want to meet young people around the world, here is one of good choices! However, if you are a nightlife walker, I don't recommend due to you have to take night bus getting back from Centraal station.
