“Clean and comfortable better than expectations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Stayed for 4 nights in this hotel, we got the 197 bus from Schipol, no hassle and 5 mins walk to hotel. The room was ready on our arrival and we checked in early. Our room was large, modern, clean The fixtures and fittings are all new. No frills in the room apart from the kettle and tea/coffee (replenished every day) no fridge. The bed was very very comfortable, no problems sleeping. The bathroom was modern with a great shower and the hairdryer was powerful - not the usual puff of hot air. Shampoo, hand wash dispensers on wall. Our companions were not so lucky with the room allocated to them, it was very small. The Hotel is a few minutes walk from Leidsplein and we thought the location was ideal. There are a few supermarkets minutes away, and a very good Thai resturant a few meters away. We would def return to this hotel, but we would request a large room if available.

This is my 4th business trip in Amsterdam. I always found very difficult to find a nice, clean and affordable hotel there. I had stayed in Best western Leidesplein twice and Hotel Avenue but not really satisfied with their rooms. Finally this time I found Hotel Iron Horse which was beyond my expectations.

The room and bathroom were very clean. The size of the room was also reasonable. Because I arrived early, the front desk was kindly to offer me early check-in. They provided a kettle and tea in the room which was a big plus. The bed quality was great so I had very good sleep.

Leidesplein is my favorite area in Amsterdam and it is very close to all attractions. There is also an airport bus 197 just 5 mins walking distance from the hotel. If you take train from Schipol, you can also take tram no. 1 to take you the hotel. There are cafes and supermarket right next to the hotels so it is very convenient to buy some refreshments.

I will definitely stay at Hotel Iron again when I return next year. And thank you for the Chinese front desk agent (sorry I forgot her name) to let me check in early.

Nice enough hotel, recently renovated from a few older buildings. Near to Leidseplein, the museums, etc. Unfortunately we were given a basement room: totally underground (very steep stairs to get there), dark, stuffy, minimal aircon, pillar in the middle of the room and smelling a bit dank. So can only recommend if you make sure you get a room above ground...

Room Tip: Avoid the basement rooms

Great location, all attractions within walking distance. Really friendly helpful staff and a couple of supermarkets close by for forgotton items or picnics. Lots of places to eat within a short walk. Room was spacious and clean with a great bathroom. We'll definitely stay again. Bike hire shop was just a couple of doors down.

Room Tip: The rooms are all set back from the road, so not much noise at all. We had a basement room, which ma...

Very close to the city center, excellent conditions (nice, spacios and clean room) and polite staff. I had a problem with the airconditioner that didn't work, it was cold, but the receptionist help me and gave me a heater.

Room Tip: choose a room in the second building (in the back yard).

Great location for sight seeing but had a little trouble getting to the hotel from the airport. Should have just taken a taxi.. Hotel was great clean and spacious. Exterior might put you off but really helpful staff and new clean interior was a real surprise. Great value would recommend ... We might even be back in a couple of weeks . Was breakfast but did not try it.

Room Tip: Ground floor was awesome we did not have to carry bags up ttop with narrow stairs...

Easily reach of sight seeing canal trip, restaurants and bars. Comfortable and clean with everything we needed. 20 min walk to Sam square and red light district. Quiet location. Apparently there was a breakfast but didn't try it
