“Grata surpresa! / Pleasant surprise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

Recomendo bastante.

---

My family and I arrived at Nicolaas Witsen "in fright" because we had a problem with another hotel. Still, it was a pleasant surprise, because the attendants were friendly and solicitous, understanding our situation and allowing us to check-in yet in the morning, as there were rooms available. The hotel is well located, close to two tram stations, which connects guests to the entire city. It is only near the Heineken Experience and the Albert Cuypmarkt, but its central location makes it quick to get to any other attraction in Amsterdam. The breakfast is simple but very tasty. At the counter, you can buy the Canal Cruise with discount. I highly recommend.

Had a bit of a boutique pub feel without really having a pub. Decor had a bright fresh feel to it. Was a short walk from the tram and in a reasonably quiet side street.

A quaint lift is appreciated in lieu of lugging bags upstairs. Our room wasn't overly big but as we were out all day sight seeing, wasn't a problem.

Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast good.

Would happily recommend as somewhere good to stay for a reasonable price.

Stayed for 2 nights. The hotel Was nice, not too far from the city centre. The rooms were nice end clean, a little bit small but no problem really. Breakfast was included and was decent. Also the staff members were all very friendly and helpful. Would stay again

Nice hotel out of the centre but ideal if you want to travel around
Room was small but very clean, as was the whole hotel.
Staff were friendly and good breakfast with plenty if choice for us, and great coffee.
Would recommend based in the above and very good value for money.

Located 5 minutes by Tram from Central Station, this wonderful hotel is very close to the heart of life in Amsterdam, yet tucked quietly along a side street so you can get a good nights rest in between your busy days.
Very comfortable beds, spotlessly clean and with a superb team of staff who were very friendly, helpful, polite and courteous. Nothing was too much trouble.
A solid breakfast and if you come in late, the bar can help with a nightcap or two.
Having stayed in Amsterdam many times over the years, this really has it all at a price that makes you wonder how they do it.
Quite simply, a wonderful stay. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms were cozy, but have the option to open windows (unlike many) to cool down if you require.

Nice, clean and comfy twin room. No safebox in bedroom as mentioned on expedia website.Breakfast is average, no variety. You have to pay for parking at the meter on the street in front of the hotel, however, parking is limited we got lucky to find 1 spot available. Great location, 10 to 15 min walk till you get to lively area of Amsterdam.
