Excellent location and very friendly and helpful but let down by poor facilities. Brekkie was fine and handy for transport too.

This hotel was in a good location for the melkweg where we were going. The staff on arrival were running round trying to see to customers which they had double booked! They were obviously busy so sent us away to come back later. On return we checked in €75 dbl and €45 single rooms .they were clean and spacious but in need of new bed linen and a lick of paint. The shower was separate along the landing in what I can only describe as a broom cupboard very awkward and small and a bit odd!!! Breakfast was sparse toast ,ham, cheese coffee n juice. It was very overpriced and I wouldn't stay again ok for 1 night.

wow this is totally not true.
These people booked a room with a shared bathroom the bathroom is on the hallway admit it is not the biggest shower in the hotel.... but a floor above there are two new bathrooms and a new toilet in the level which they were told also to use.
it clearly states the room is with shared bathroom.they paid 75,00 euro for two that is just above a hostel price,
You can find this price in a lot of hostels where you share the room with others
There breakfast is free.
contains
unlimited coffee
tea
eggs
cold meats and cheeses tomates cucumbers toast bread spreads preserves... and orange juice.
many of the hotels in this street charge extra for breakfast, and its is from 7 ,50 up to 22.50 euro

so I THINK in all with the location price and breakfast a great deal.!!!
lick of paint??? per 1 november there is huge renovation and we will be having the building totally painted.
thank you for youre review.
kind regards

Having booked the room about 8 months in advance i thought we would be all fine in there, arrived to be told the booking was cancelled , but i had checked online the night before and it said room confirmed, i also printed out confirmation, the oriental lady at check in seemed very rude and totally in a flap about things, phoned the owner who took ages to get there, he was a man with some common sense and organisational skills and moved someone else out so we could be in there (funnily enough our friends......)
I probably would not stay here again because of this, if you are travelling abroad the last thing you want on arrival is all this hassle and stress

dear sir/madam,

firstly i would like to ask who you are and if some one was rude to you in this hotel, why did you not ask for the manager?
was there a problem your booking?
credit card?
am curious,as you gave no further details.
this seems strange,as I have no further details and would dearly like to help ..
we are very secure with bookings, and would like your feedback.
with kind regards

We were pleased with this hotels location, right on a canal and a 2 minute walk from the Leidseplein, yet on a very quiet street (That's not to say we didn't get woken up one morning to find the occupiers of the room above had broken our light fitting by jumping on their beds so enthusiastically). First impressions and the hotel looked clean and inviting, was pleased to find we were staying in one of the nicer looking rooms. Once in we realized we weren't allowed to open our french doors into the garden outside as it was private for the owners family, disappointing but not too much of a bother.
Furniture was all a tad rickety, but not an issue. Bed was extremely comfortable, but the sheets just didn't smell clean, pillows smelt of grease and the bottom of the bed smelt of cheesy feet - Didn't see the hotel owner again until the last day to comment or ask for different sheets, towels were the same story - Also, I would suggest bringing your own towels even if you don't mind the smell as a walk back down the hall from the shower in such a small towel could provide pretty embarrassing if it weren't for a dressing gown. Towels also didn't get changed during our 5 night stay, and a cleaner actually left our bedroom door open one day!
Stayed for breakfast 2 mornings out of 5, and only for the free tea and coffee. The breakfast was a nice bonus, but don't expect much - Cold toast, egg and cheese.
Overall the hotel did the job, was all acceptable and clean apart from the linen. Good price for Amsterdam, considering some hostels charge similar places.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The location is very good, close to Leidseplein. The check in was pretty easy and our room was on the first floor, a few doors down from the kitchen. After exploring the city, we returned to our room the first night and discovered our tv wasn't working. We told the young man working who then brought us another tv that didn't work. Then he had us change to an upstairs room, which was very outdated and a little creepy. This rooms tv didn't work either. We went back to our original room. Finally, while trying to get some sleep, our neighbors, who we thought were the owners family were very loud, with young children running up and down the hallways and constantly slamming the doors. Our room seemed a little more updated than the creepy one upstairs. We paid for a full size bed and we got 2 twin beds on a full size frame. This was annoying because the mattresses kept slipping apart which led to a big gap in the middle. Bathrooms were clean. Shower was a little difficult to manage, it was more like a closet in which you open the room and you're in the shower. Barely any room to hang clothes and basically have to disrobe in the hallway.

Breakfast was OK, they only gave one glass of juice, the coffee cups were stained, and the food involved bread, some deli meat, jam, and either hard-boiled or scrambled eggs, depending on the day. They also charge for WiFi, but we ended up getting the password from the young man mentioned earlier because of the tv dilemma.

The only good thing about the hotel is that its right across from a canal and a very short walk to the square.

Considering the quality of our stay and the breakfast, we thought the pricing was a little high.
