an excellent budget hotel in a great location.
for the price it was well worth it.
we had a triple room with ensuite..
no problems what so ever...
you will get value for your money with this hotel... i have stayed in some right holes in Amsterdam & paid more for the priviledge!!
i was happy to come back to this hotel after some hardcore coffeshops!

On arriving at La Boheme we had the distinct impression that the place was not quiet all it was cracked up to be based on previous reviews! A lick of paint and a good carpet clean would probably have done the trick to the allay our instinctive negative reactions. But we were warmly welcomed by the staff who were extremely friendly and more than willing to offer advice about tours/, transport and sights. This made all the difference. Our room was okay but the carpet could have done with a good clean. The place was surprising quiet given its location, but one night i found it difficult to sleep with the wafts of smoke coming from a smoker in the room opposite (which gently wafted under our door towards me!) Breakfast was good, and there was no presssure to be out at the allocated time of 11am. Overall, probably a good option for young budget travellers, but for me i'd probably pay a few quid extra the next time and stay somewhere that i could really chill out and feel comfortable.

Stayed at La Boheme for 4 nights in mid-June 2006. In European terms, the size of the room was average - the foot of one of the beds prevented the complete opening of the bathroom door. Having the ensuite bathroom was nice though and the shower worked wonderfully. Our room faced the street and although it was not a particularly busy road there was a fair bit of traffic noise thru the single paned windows...hurray for earplugs!
The bath and beds were clean and comfy although the carpet looked a little worse for wear. Excellent location for restaurants, bars, museums and transit. The included breakfast was very good and more substantial than I expected (boiled eggs, toast, cold cuts, cheese, cereal, juice, coffee). Very friendly and helpful staff. No problems with the steep stairs except for a fit of giggles trying to get up them with our suitcases the first day there!
It's nothing fancy but it is a well-located, well-run, budget traveller's hotel.

We stayed at the Hotel La Boheme for 4 nights in early June 2005 based on the reviews on Trip Advisor.

Amsterdam is a very expensive place to stay so we considered the rate at La Boheme of 100Euro/night including breakfast to be a decent deal.

The hotel has a great location right near Leidsplein - it is very central and every major sight in Amsterdam is no more than a 25m walk and there is a tram system too.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The actual room (we had a twin room) was small and very basic, but clean and adequate. The bathroom is very small, but having a proper shower stall made it fine for us.

It is important to note (and this was mentioned in many of the prior reviews) that the hotel has NO ELEVATOR and VERY STEEP AND NARROW STAIRS. Anyone planning to stay here needs to pack light and be able to haul their luggage up the stairs. This is NOT the place for the elderly or heavy travellers.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at La Boheme and would consider staying there again.
