“Budget Hotel, Great Location, Amazing Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2010

This hotel was a typical Amsterdam budget hotel. Very steep narrow stairs, no elevator (which isn't a problem if you have few or small bags), small but clean room, and very friendly and accommodating staff. I booked a single room for 5 nites, and I had no complaints except for the people I had to share a bathroom with (next time I would be sure to get a private bathroom). Breakfast was good and consisted of toast, various spreads, cereal, cheese, deli meats, hard-boiled eggs, and coffee and orange juice. Reception, open until 11 pm, also had beverages and snacks available to purchase. There were several families, couples, and small groups of friends, as well as single travelers also staying in the hotel, so as long as you aren't incredibly picky, you will enjoy your stay just fine. You could definitley hear nite-noise, but it wasn't too bad for a major city. There was a laptop computer free to guests to use for 30 minutes at a time. Also, the location can't be beat--right around the corner from the Leidseplein, a major center of shops, restaurants, and the famed nightclub, Boom Chicago. Within walking distance of museums and almost everything, but I would probably take public transportation if getting there from Central Station. There is also a shuttle bus to the airport that stops just around the corner. Great budget stay!

This hotel is perfect for people travelling with little luggage (no elevator) and who don't need more luxury than a friendly staff, free wireless internet and to be in a walking distance from everything. I stayed in the basemen and I had access to a quiet terrace in the back. It was good because in July the rooms to the street can be very hot and I felt really fresh in mine. And they cleaned my room everyday.

It was a very ok hotel as it is really near the Leidseplein which I love. The room was very small. The bed was ok but even with the windows closed we could hear a lot of noise. The bathroom is really poor.

Well located in a really good part of Town. Direct tram to the central station, Taxi rank 50m and Bars restaurants around.

Great service friendly people. I felt that my basement room was somewhat of a very small cave though, however not as small as some I have stayed at in the past. While it was a basement room it opened onto an internal courtyard so was very quiet, and I got a great nights sleep.

Staff were extremely friendly and provided great service--we left before breakfast and they offered to bring a food tray to our room. Room was small, basic, no frills, but very clean. Soft mattress, but surprisingly comfortable. Warning about stairs--not recommended for the weak of heart or body. We had read about the stairs in previous reviews, and everything said was true. Hotel location was great.
