“Boutique Hotel in Amsterdam”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2012

Very new, cute, boutique hotel in Amsterdam. Great Location, great price and very pretty and well decorated. The staff is extremely helpful and pleasant! The recommendations were very helpful. In particular, the restaurant "Blue Pepper" - offering incredible Indonesian cuisine. Very pleasant breakfast area and only 10 euros which is extremely reasonable. It is new and has a few kinks to work out but I highly recommend this hotel.

This was an adequate little hotel in a good location ( which is why we stayed there). But as with all "boutique" hotels, especially those which include that description of themselves in their name, there are things to watch for: rooms are very small; the breakfast buffet - lavish if one believes their photograph - offers only one of everything to each guest. That is, if there are 8 guests, then 8 pieces of each type of sausage will be laid out, 8 pieces of cheese, 1 jug of orange juice. If your fellow guests get down there ahead of you, and they eat and drink more than their 'ration', you won't get anything. While we were there the dining area and the buffet was overseen by a Neanderthal waiter who couldn't/wouldn't do anything to correct this, and beyond serving us a double helping of Nescafe (for the two of us) - no repeats - did nothing except sit in a corner on a couch and look surly. We were not offered food! This somewhat diminished our Kasteelen experience.... The Holiday Inn would have cost little more, perhaps less, and would have offered a complete range of services.

This hotel was perfect and also the location was perfect. Situated in a quiet area next to the Van Gogh Museum and large park and some bars and restaurants with easy quick access to the city centre. The staff were very friendly and more than helpful... especially Natellie, the owner. I would definitely, without question, recommend this hotel for anyone wishing to visit Amsterdam...in fact, I intend to return to this hotel again in the future...we had a great time!

The single rooms are comfortable but very small with a narrow bed. The location is good for the main museums and there are tram stops in easy walking distance. Good selection for breakfast including warm rolls and croissants and excellent coffee. Worth a stay if you can get a discounted rate.

firstly we arrived, they couldn't find our booking, after aprox 30 mins searching programme on her computor, we were finally allocated a room with the smallest and softest of beds i,ve ever come accross. Please note they do not offer tea and coffee facilities nor do they offer a mini bar only an empty fridge. we were in our room 1st evening a stranger walked into our room, after enquiring at reception on who entered my room. I had no appology only told that the had double booked room. this doesnt seem to be a one off because I overherard another couple complaining in reception that the room the were given was already 'allocated'. a boutique hotel. NOT!!

It is a nice and cute hotel, with few rooms but very well equiped (air
conditioned, light dimmer, nice bath,..). They only prepare you the
breakfast, and they are every day the same, but there is fresh fruit, very
good taste crosants and good bread. They also offer you coffee and tea
without restrictions, and the "waiters" are very atentive.
It is quite far from the city center (25 minutes walking), but it is only 5
minutes from some important museums, as Van Gogh Museum or RijkMuseum. There
is also Vondelpark very close to it. From the hotel, you can easily reach to
the center by tram, there are 2 diferent lines which take you to the center
with many diferent combinations.
This hotel is near to Pijp neighborhood, which has its owns coffee shops and
"red light district".
If you are looking for a quite place, with good and friendly staff and you
don't mind walking a few to get the center, I recommend you this Hotel.

I visited Amsterdam for business and stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. I chose the hotel as it was relatively close to the conference I was attending at the RAI exhibition centre. The taxi from the hotel to RAI costs around 10 euros and took 5 minutes. So for me location wise it was perfect. Otherwise I may have chosen something closer to the city centre.

As it happened I was there during Queens Birthday when the town goes absolutely berserk. Normally taking a taxi to the centre would take 20 minutes or so but this time we couldn't even get half way due to the number of people on the streets. We hiked over an hour to town through masses of partying people and street bands.

Anyway the hotel is nice with friendly service. The hotel is situated on a quite residential street. There are not many restaurants in the area so a taxi is required to get to the city centre to spend the evenings. But in a way it's nice to go back to a quite hotel after the hustle and bustle of down town Amsterdam.

The single room is very small as is the bathroom. A small desk and chair are provided and there is good wifi throughout. But the setting is not suitable for long hours of online work, which is what I do.

I must also add that in the minibar there were only 2 beers, which were consumed withing the first minutes of settling in. The minibar was never replenished even when I asked... but I did get a can of Heineken from guy at the reception.
