“Great BBQ chicken and homebrews”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

The self-made BBQ chicken was awesome and the homebrew style beer was quite good as well.
Place was almost entirely booked during the weekend, reservation recommended.

“get a new waitress! (the one with dark hair)”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

THE WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE, MCDONALDS SERVES YOU WITH MORE LOVE ,THAN THE REALLY RUDE WAITRESS WITH DARK HAIR!

well, i was used to love this place, at least once a month we go there to enjoy they're fabulous chicken. (i met the people in the kitchen, i know people playing music there, and the rest of the staff, everybody is always really sweet)
until yesterday when we had the worst experience, we made a reservation for 10 people, I have to say in advance that as always THE FOOD IS REALLY GOOD, unfortunately a really rude waitress was "taking care" of us.
i understand it can be a not easy job since i did it myself so i'm very comprehensive, but still i think a tiny bit of politeness is necessary in this job.
this girl treated us like crap, she told me to "shut up" more than one time, when i was asking for her help. after she took our drinks order i let her know that we're ready to also order the food, she shhhs me again, tells me i'm interrupting her activities and leaves without caring.....
i reach her at the bar and tell her in dutch that we are ready to order, to avoid any possible language misunderstandings, but she ignores me again.
when she comes back and we finally order, i'm trying to warn her about my allergies, but she keeps on being hysterical, while we are all pretty calm and start laughing about this instead of getting pissed off.
the people sitting with me realize that this girl beside being VERY IMPOLITE,seriously needs a vallium.
we leave as soon as possible, to avoid further problems, but apparently it's not over:
most of us took a chicken and a beer (13,50 + from 3 to 4 euros= 16,50\17) and we decide to pay separately, which i understand it can be annoying but still can happened if you work as a waitress.
when at the cash register people start saying "can i please pay you a blond beer and a chicken" she refuses to collaborate and keeps on being difficult, without knowing the prices she require us to make our own check, and tell her exactly the amount that we are paying, does not the cash register have a calculator? (even though it's really easy to calculate?) or was this a part of the extremely rude service? we did not give tips, even if we always do, because i rather chew my own coins rather than leave a tip to that terrible person. Maybe i will go back again since i REALLY LIKE THE FOOD, but i will make sure she is not working so we don't' have to have another evening ruined...............

“Mmm, roast chicken”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014 via mobile

Came over for roast chicken, recommended by the friendly concierge at our hotel. He said the restaurant had just won no 2 for roast chicken in the city. No 1 was rather far away for us...
The chickens were smallish free range birds which are served in quarters with chips, three sauces on a bed of arugula and tomato salad. Each order gets you a whole chicken.. They are gently roasted over coals and the marinade is light and fresh. I loved it.
On each table there are also free peanuts for snacks as you wait, just drop the shells on the floor. All part of the experience. Cheers!

“NICE BREWS!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014

Nice beer... easy place to go... very spacious, and free peanuts to enjoy while drinking your beer. Very good. Not the best beer I had in amsterdam, but if you like local brews its a great place to try.

“OK beer, free peanuts, simple menu selection”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2014

Nice if you have a bigger group and get there early. A few beer options, and friendly waitstaff. Takes a long time to get your food, so make sure you have time on your hands. Peanuts all over the place. Even though that's part of the idea, it could be cleaner.

I like this place, but not as well as brouwerij de prael (which has a broader beer selection and an idealistic mission behind it).
