By giving this venue a 3 star rating I am being somewhat slack, in that I did enjoy my stay here with my gf, however I have to agree with a number of reviews that have highlighted a disparity in the service provided by the staff.
Upon arrival, it is not made immediately obvious that you are to check in at the cafe counter, rather than the apartments upstairs, which obviously you cannot access without keys. The staff member who greeted my gf was somewhat indifferent to our arrival, and another couples' arrival as well.
The apartmenthotel itself is actually quite nice, recently renovated, with interesting design features. Bathroom is new, clean and quite nice, lots of marble and stone, combined bedroom and living room is complimented by a large double atrium window which is nice, however the mattress is not of good quality, very soft and I'm pretty sure I rolled out of bed once or twice in the night.
Facilities are lacking, no coffee or tea making materials, safe does not work, nor does the hairdryer. Upon raising issue with staff, no assistance or even acknowledgement received, seems as if she couldn't care less.
The location is convenient, quiet, on what was described by a number of walking/bike tour operators as the most expensive street in Amsterdam. About a ten minute walk to the centre of town - so that was a plus.
Don't get me wrong, nice apartment, if lacking in the facilities, however it's the staff that lets this place down.
