This could easily become one of my favorite restaurants because they found an almost perfect balance between atmosphere, cuisine, service and prices. This is rare anywhere, and almost impossible to imagine in Amsterdam where service is usually not up to standard.
It is difficult to describe, but i will give it a try. The restaurant itself is very informal as a setting; something approaching a large bistro. The wine list is very well balanced with an interesting choice. I needed help here and the advice was knowledgeable and friendly. Prices very reasonable as well. The service had the same balance of informality and efficiency. There was also a good team spirit (nothing like "this is not my table" type of behavior). Finally, the most important, i.e. the food. Excellent old-fashioned food; first class ingredients cooked to perfection. Presentation is simple and it is the food that stands out in all its simplicity. Really amazing tastes. They appear to change quite often the menu. A good reason to go back soon. It seems to be difficult to get a reservation; better book well in advance.
