“Stairs !”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2014

The hotel is located in the museums areas and it is really 5 mins walking distance from the most important ones.
Also close to the area where boarding on canals tours.
The hotel is clean and also the shared areas like toilet and shower are well kept.
Breakfast is really abundant and owners are nice and friendly.
Room are not enormous and furniture are not new and modern for the price charged but Amsterdam is expensive for this so perhaps it is in line.
Again the place is clean so it is fine.
Only negative elements are the very steep and narrow stairs, not suitable for people with some even minimal walking difficulties, and bed mattresses that are old and too soft.

this hotel has the best location in amsterdam. right across the park from the rikesmusum! also a five minute walk to the leidserplain..couldn't be a better location for a tourist in amsterdam. but you must be aware that you have to walk up steep stairs to get to your room and the rooms have shared toilets. still, if those two things are ok with you then this is a good deal in central amsterdam. also a nice breakfast and an affordable price for the hotel.

Room Tip: i guess they are all good. mine looked out on the bus stop below but still when the windows were shu...

Stayed here with a friend. Hotel is simple to find (literally next to the Rijksmuseum), so the location is perfect. It is walking distance from the city center (<10 mins walking). I found staff to be very friendly and also very helpful. Our room was clean, beds were comfortable. Breakfast was nice. I have no complaints. I would recommend staying here to anybody who is visiting the city.

I stayed here with my brother in May. I echo what others have said about the rude owner. She actually shouted at us over leaving a spare key on the front desk, despite her being nowhere to be found. She told us we were not to visit the red light district which I found odd. Overall the room was fine, although a little small for twin beds, I hit my head on low beams .It had shared bathrooms but they are fine.

The owner appeared relieved when I said we were brothers, we suspected there may be an issue with gay couples but couldn't be sure. Overall i wouldn't stay again for fear of another encounter with the rude owner.

Even without having spent 4 nights in a very mediocre hotel 15 minutes by bus from the city center, I would still rate this hotel very highly. I wish so much my wife and I had stayed here all five nights, not only would we have saved considerable money, but our stay would have been that much better. The day and night staff were both lovely. The young lady who worked at night was especially friendly, fun, and accomodating. It is located near a tram stop that among other routes will take you straight to the airport. The only downside for some may be the lack of an elevator. The stairs are rather steep, but it is in probably 17th century building. If you're able to do stairs, the charm by far makes up for hauling your luggage up and down. It's only 3 stories anyway. The breakfast was lovely and more than just bready continental. I can't recommend this place enough. Seriously. Cheers!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 5. It had a nice view of that part of the city.

We were 3, the room was very clean, the shared bathroom and showers as well! The breakfast room has a great view, great ambiance! Friendly staff. Perfect location: walking distance from van gogh museum, heiniken experience and vondelpark!
One thing that can be improved is wifi in the rooms (u can only have it if u r standing by the door or sitting in the common room).
Highly recommended place! Id definitely go back there on my next trip :)

Great place for budget friendly people. Its close to the tram and bus stop and just few minutes walk to the city center. The receptionist is great and very friendly. Had it not been for my rude encounter with the owner of the property I would have rated the hotel 'excellent'. I would definitely stay at this hotel if I get to visit Amsterdam again.
